CCP’s grifting scheme Frontier will definitely be big, they have to push it after all.
Vanguard hasn’t been in the talks in a while.
Splitting up High Sec sounds exactly like something CCP would definitely do these days. No concern for the well-being of the game, just more destruction of the IP.
Nothing for HS/LS (splitting up HS with low sec would be a massive boon for LS, though) is only natural, as they go EVERYTHING lately. Insurgencies, event exclusives, fw overhaul, more HS pve content, Abyss still not limited to lower security areas, and so on.
We have to keep making high-sec worse so the null hordes can continue to recruit. I mean, EVE loses 96% of new sign-ups - so why focus on trying to change that by making the game more appealing? Imagine if that number could be improved to a 10% retention rate… But we’ll just continue to nerf the region with the highest number of players.
EVE - play the game your way (just as it’s our way and not in high-sec).
I wonder how much of the focus will be on EVE Frontier. I know there will be a big push - just not to what extent, ie: will this end up being EVE Fanfest 2025 or EVE Frontier Fanfest 2025?
I’m pretty sure Vanguard is DOA at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if dev resources have been quietly shifted from Vanguard over to Frontier over the past year… It’s sure felt like minimal development has been allocated to EVE.
I doubt it will be much, they have a hackathon scheduled and that’ll be it. There’s really not much to show or talk about. If Blizzard could not pull off a multiplayer survival game with the cancelled Odyssey then certainly CCP won’t.
Which wouldn’t necessarily be bad, provided they gave each area of hisec some unique quality, benefit, etc. (i.e., a reason to be there). Otherwise, Caldari space will just become more crowded and the rest will wither.
At present, I am neither optimistic nor pessimistic. Experience has taught me that fanfest usually disappoints regardless. I honestly can’t remember the last time I got excited about something announced at Fanfest that CCP actually delivered properly.
My prediction is that it’s going to be underwhelming based in the pre-keynote chat:
Hilmar is up…
Planning the third monument (30 years of EVE)
Shout-out to CCP employees…
Next expansion is “something to behold”…
EVE memes… “friendship”
EVE Guiness World Records…
EVE CSM shout-out…
EVE Forever (new focus), taking their time with Vanguard, plan is for EVE + EVE Vanguard to be the two main games, “Nemesis” Vanguard expansion in September…
EVE Frontier (far along enough to get FanFest coverage), dev team smaller than I imagined (<30-35 devs)… Frontier carbon supposedly contributing to advancements in EVE…
Upgrade to Python 3 with “EVE Evolved” initiative, massive undertaking (4-5 million lines of code)… sounds like they’re working on some of this under Frontier and porting over to EVE
Himlar done… (CCP Orca? up)
CCP employees w/10 years get swords… CCP alliances 10+ years get a sword ceremony tomorrow…
Fan art (charity auction)…
Alliance reset and the great migration…
EVE Vanguard community plug, meetup in London, plug to join Discord…
EVE Echoes, Galaxy Conquest plugs, 680k installs for Conquest… stopped listening
EVE partnership program, 200 creators, 80k+ paid out to creators, plugged streamers…
EVE Alliance Tournament trophy… expanding charity cup, new tools for tournament organizers … another Discord plug … EVE Board Game … EVE Dice Game in the works …
EVE Online music coming on out vinyl (double record), old and new music…
EVE Foundation of Poem book (short video), part of EVE Forever… will chronicle legendary moments in EVE…
EVE Forever logo again (infinity symbol)
CCP Ratatouie and Burger now up…
EVE Forever plug again, Rat has been at CCP for 18 years…
Burger talking about capitals, 43k dreadnoughts built (-10k destroyed), 483 trillion ISK of destruction, -83 trllion of dreads destroyed
Fun at Imperium’s expense while congratulating them on their migration…
New player focus, emphasis on community, strong organizations, unlock their potential, not fixing the new player experience, new plan to bring old vets and single players into the fold…
6th expansion, new features as well as fixing existing ones… talking about last year’s expansions, needs CSM for future expansions… (FML, this doesn’t bode well)
They feel they are “out of the woods” now, more openness, more info, honest, etc.
Shout-out to CCP Okami… (lots of applause)
Burger talking about new expansion (finally!)
EVE Legion, 27th of May (looks like some new Deathless ships? on the graphic), said “new toys”…
Talking about the map now, going to overhaul, not easy task… more content, customizable, sov maps, make the map a more permanent fixture in gameplay (work to cross several expansions)…
Burger done, CCP Okami up!
Okami cuts to the chase about the expansion, video with CCP Nomad talking about freelance jobs…
Freelance jobs, talking about missions (etc.) being player-created, “Goalsmith” (new implementation), ESI endpoints with freelance jobs
SKINR and Paragon Hub here to stay, Corporation branding after Legion, hinted ag ship lighting and other possibilities, short video - corp palette, corp SKINs, corp logo editor (full RGB)…
Burger back, talking about 3rd party development, ESI will be a focus going forward…
Talking about EVE graphics now… video with CCP Caffrine, Trinity engine upgrade, ray-tracing, upscaling later this tear, upgrades to carbon… CCP Goggi talking about cube maps later this year, more realistic lighting, etc. All cruisera are getting lighting/VFX upgrades, 13 new T1 ships have been upgraded (look great!)…
Okami talking about Deathless and Drifters, fate of drifter wormholes, what is the new tech, why is Deathless interested in Jovian tech, Deathless saga far from over…
Sovereignty scalability, new features…
Video with CCP k1p1, more custom options: options to better utilize workers, new upgrades that apply effects to ships (can enhance shield doctrine, etc. in specific systems), immediately capture existing Skyhooks…
I don’t see why they bother with other games. Sink all of your dev time and resources into the game you already have that works and has made you money for over 20 years and counting.
Yo, I logged in hype, thought this patch’d ignite,
But the latest EVE drop? Man, it just ain’t right.
Talked big game, said they’d reshape the stars,
But it’s the same old grind, just reskinned bars.
New ships? Meh — ain’t breakin’ the mold,
And the lore’s half-baked, barely lukewarm cold.
Null sec’s still dead, high sec’s a chore,
CCP, where’s the war we all came here for?
Said “dynamic universe,” but it feels static,
More microtransactions, less galactic magic.
Yeah, I love this game, but let’s keep it real —
This expansion’s got flash, but it lacks the feel.
