That’s for Blaster Void, right? What is the range of your weapons? I’m talking about a fit with 2 or 3 Magnetic Stabilizers. How many stabilizers does your fit have and what skill level on Marauders?
They talk about it in general by using Marauders in ESS, WH, solo PVP and fleet PVP. That means way higher tank and range requirements than L4 missions needs.
Sigh, whats the point, really? You get high DPS close up and lower DPS far away, thats a common thing with all weapon systems. And of course you compare stats with “All V” assumed, you can’t take into condideration any different skill combo that anyone might have. If you have less skills, you have less damage, whats there to argue, you don’t balance ships around the assumption that people fly them with Skill III.
Come on, I have seen not a single argument so far that would make Marauders after the patch anything less than the best ship to use per Pilot. You still get a LOT more DPS and a LOT more tank than with anything else. You just commit more and that is absolutely fine. If you cannot have that, use a faction BS? It is a good balance decision that they are now a viable alternative again.
He he he he he. That feeling of “having contributed to the greater good” is priceless already, no need for payment of any kind and certainly not announced, right ? Right ?
Every four years or so CCP manages to create an update with the potential to piss off more than a ton of people once they start to realize and experience what is happening. This Viridian thing has that potential - not because of the “nerfs to marauders” or the introduction of 1337 t2 dreads, but because 1) the attempt to undermine the ISK based economy even further (being able to “buy” stuff with a currency other than ISK, dixit Rattati in yesterday’s twitch stream, 2) turning even more of EvE into a theme park (Burger, in the same stream) and especially 3) focusing heavily on management tools for corporations - which have survived just fine over the last two decades without these - turning players into observable entities, not implementing any additional tools for checks and balances - of course there will be malafide ceo’s and directors running off with the results of the “projects” and there’s absolutely nothing anyone can do to check it. True, that was possible before, now it’s becoming part of the game’s client, lol. 4) more taxes, because yeah, everything the boots on the ground do needs to be taxed and profiteered on, there’s no running away from overlords who allow you to use their corp logo. 5) And of course the fact that ccp still allows that eye sore called TTT to sit in Perimeter completely unchallenged, even giving them the benefit of the broker taxes… Any buyer in the TTT is funding a select few puppet masters in the game, who share the benefits (and can play the plex market if they so choose). And that is not a small amount of ISK …
In short, this looks like an expansion that has the potential to seriously shake up relations and trust between corporation leadership and its members, in ways that are prone to profiteering.
Some real life lessons on management: 1) a dashboard management system is experienced as highly impersonal, even unfair, and takes away direct accountability of the management; 2) metrics induce “chasing the numbers”, not “growing as a contributor”; 3) if you pay out peanuts you get monkey behavior - in the case of EvE monkeys who pay to be allowed to “make a contribution to a project”.
As always, good corporations and alliances already had their stuff in place, with ways to reach corp/alli goals and activating their membership without going all impersonal about it. I’m confident they will continue to use those instead of this new project tool that will only result in less leadership and more bookkeeper’s mentality and management by numbers. That is not unexpected when the current Rattati & Burger duo dreams up something that may affect economy and now also fairness and trust level between corps and their membership. In any case, doing the work without the reward - on any level - never lasts.
I’ll put the question to anyone here: is this the type of expansion that we would dream up to celebrate EvE’s entry into the third decade ?
I’m talking about the practical skill numbers which around 85-90% of players have. Most players will have the expensive skills trained into Level IV. Like very few enthusiast players will train for 28 days to get a 2% damage boost, while he can get it via a 3M ISK booster or 20M ISK implant. I believe in a hands-on approach. You are correct if talking about Pyfa fits. On some degree your arguments are good enough.
I built many Blaster fits for a Kronos and used many of them in L4 missions. I just can’t handle that. Maybe a new Mid slot will help for tracking enhancements. In my opinion any MJD Railgun fit is way better with a huge range and rate of fire. And here we can even have a lower tank. Most important is that all NPC (spawned at distant Serpentis, Guristas) will be in your optimal range and is good to hit as small elite frigates, as big BS. I’m waiting to use it with new Railgun buffs
It depends where you use them. For hi-sec L4 missions they may be good. For other encounters I’m not sure. People will switch to Dreads.
I have 4 different mission bases in HS with one of the marauders each located there. I have to confess that while I am all Amarr at heart and the Paladin leads in terms of efficiency by quite a margin (the damage projection of pulse lasers is just epic), the Kronos with Blasters simply offers the most dynamic and fun gameplay of them all. Switcing in and out of bastion, MJDing on the grid for repositioning, really obliterating anything below 20km and still do quite good DPS with Null up to 50km… I really like it, its a nice experience. And for sure faster than Rattle, Machariel, Barghest, Nightmare etc…
Then I don’t understand the complaints. Dreads are way more skill intensive, way more costly, way more immobile, way harder to replace (especially inside a WH), way harder to farm statics with.
Triple anci vargur tank will still be out there, its triple anci that was the problem, and it still will be, just a bit smaller.
Why they dont touch fitting limitations to a problematic fittings, when they knew about that for ages, since it was released they banned more than 1 anci module in tournaments.
Why marauder nerf?
Because you now have incentive to train for t2 dred now, and dreds in particular like navy variants. Navy Phoenix go!
Or dont. you can still fly a lot of bombers and hunt for those unfortunate dreds that dont have supercaps support in null in a form of standing fleet ready to pvp you.
They’ve simply ported tools that exist already outside of the game into the games UI…
If the culture inside of a corporation does not foster a co-operative all-for -one and one-for-all spirit, consider leaving said corporation. If a player doesn’t want to participate in a project, they don’t have to. If a corporation wishes to limit its membership to only players that participate, they can. As in life, and as already exists in game, there will be a full spectrum of corporation styles ranging from casual to elitist, from veteran to newbro.
I get that yo personally are unsatisfied but not everybody thinks, behaves, or feels the way your post assumes that they do.
I have realised why this expansion is called Viridian. After many years the wizards at CCP have managed to create purest Green (Blackadder fans will get the reference) and wish to celebrate this achievement.
Also, if it was thought (as it looked like) in the context of w-space it changes nothing, as the hole would be prepped anyway
Everything else I’m fine with, good changes overall
Generally speaking I think that using modules that block warp as a mean to create a vulnerability is a overused and weak design choice, we can see it in marauders, in dreads, in carriers (where it is never used outside of big fleets) and in industrial support ships (and in the porpoise it makes absolutely no sense, as it was meant to be the agile one)
If another matar ship gets regeneration bonuses to shield and armor, let them introduce this in all matar ships. There should also be implants that, like crystal or asclepian, give half bonuses to both types of regeneration. This would give a show off to the new fits of the double tank
Of course, but I have learned over the years to temper expectations and opt for the most inobtrusive corrections where CCP’s concerned. Besides, dangling participles isn’t really a rule, just a bit of 19th century whininess.
