Only if it doesn’t still expire within 14 days. I mean, what are the chances you will get exactly the booster you need in the 14 days before it falls out of your redeem item queue? I get boosters maybe 3 days in 7, and they are rarely useful for the character who receives them.
Being given demo items that have a super short duration, are only valid to redeem within 14 days, and are not tradeable does not break anything. It entices people to try them out and then actually start buying them of they like the effects.
For me, the whole randomness of the rewards make them a bit pointless for me.
I would prefer stuff I would actually use.
I’m a Minmatar pilot so a quick shield booster is nice but generally I trash the rest. I think I’ve used 2 in the last two months and everything else expired or got directly trashed.
A good point was raised with the skins that a pilot wouldn’t / couldn’t use. Again, I have a limited number of ships (being newly returned) and those that I do have are exclusively Minmatar. Skins are already visible via the preview so advertising has already been taken care of.
I can understand how the BPC’s could be useful for invention but I’ve just got various ships BPCs that would be nice to build but are 0/0 ME/TE so have little worth so I give them away to random people. As an industry item they are limited and as a personal item they are also limited.
In summary. Give me stuff I actually want or would use. The current randomness doesn’t reward you with anything and having so many items going direct to trash undermines the whole system and kinda shows its broken. What would be nice is if the rewards were tied to Faction/Level. Giving 5 day old characters a Widow skin is laughable. Giving them a shuttle skin or a Frigate skin (for their race) would most likely get used. Even BPCs could be tied in with your Faction. I found it odd that I got a Tormentor BPC but a friend of mine (Amarrian Character) got a Thrasher BPC. A Ruppy BPC with a decent ME level would entice me to build it and then fly it. With a decent ME level it also becomes something that could be dumped to the market for those industrialists and traders.
What is also a bit strange is that the rewards don’t scale. Most other games give progressive daily rewards or a bigger reward after X number of logins. Rifter after 30 days, Firetail after 300 kinda thing.
The actual rewards themselves… meh. I could (and pretty much already do) live without them. Chuck me a few rounds of Republic Fleet Fusion S/M/L and I’d be a happy bunny. Again, something that could be scaled with different tiered crates and tailored towards the pilot through Faction choice.
You know they’re doing this to get people wanting to spend cash on in game things, right? As well, they do give you SP. Just a taste. Just enough to make you want more. And more is what they give you…for $40.
I’ve only used the end of month SP bonus.
Not even lying.
Only time I’ve ever used the other stuff was just to clear my received items box. This is essentially clutter. I think it’s cool there’s login bonuses, that stuff is nice all around. What I DONT think is nice is that essentially nothing has any practical use both to old and new players. New players shouldn’t concern themselves with booster, older players don’t care about t1 bpc or 3% booster.
I agree that if you have to chuck trash at us, at least openly admit it’s trash and have it at least be ‘fun’ trash like lore/rp items.
The worst part is that people have been saying this for months now and it just keeps getting worse. Ease up on the useless items and 7 day skins. How much would it kill to have very small (like bundles of 10) Plex on the roll list for the purple omega daily crate? How much would it kill to have higher level booster that you can put in your inventory at least? How much would it really kill to put 2~12 hours of SP on login rewards? How much would it kill to have faction ammo/missiles?
There’s legitimately so many DECENT options that the current listings just seem outright disrespectful to the playerbase.
Just because you receive a gift doesn’t mean it’s useful or helpful. There is no intrinsic value to sentimentality and I would hope that isn’t 100% of CCPs goal.
Yeah, I guess I agree that having a Log-In reward is nice.
However I disagree with describing the current rewards as not having any practical use. I’m an older player with over 12 years in the game. I use the T1 BPC’s for Invention. The Boosters at various times are helpful, especially if you leave them sitting in Redeem Queue where they’ll be available when needed.
I think the main thing that hurts this Log-In reward campaign is that it’s continuously happening.
It’s not helpful or useful because it’s sitting in the received items folder collecting dust. If CCP is trying to send out a gift that’ll be used they’re failing miserably. I can’t even sell the seven day skins. Apparently it makes someone entitled just to want a product in the log in reward to actually be useable.
But please continue on how I’m just supposed to ignore this and carry on my day. Be sure to include a straw man or two as I surely would not get it without such poetic nuances.
In YOUR items folder. Your single opinion doesn’t mean the gifts are helpful or usefull. they may not be for you, but for others, like me they are. You do understand the difference?
Yes, it does. A gift is a gift. Learn what it means.
I saw the title to your thread and almost X-ed out of my browser to launch the game! Thank god I had the discipline to “just say no” (momentarily) and read the content of your post!
Thanks to you guys for working to make the improvements.
Could daily booster rewards be claimed to use at a later date?
With a 14 day redeem-cooldown they are mostly useless, rather than applying them immediately could we not redeem them and use them any time? - hell, make it so they are unable to be sold/transferred if that’s what people are worried about.
Good idea. In fact, I hope that in the future they extend it to other items as well. For example, if we could get ships and modules that way, it could really streamline the process of getting into the arenas, instead of having to waste time on buying them from the market or building them yourself. More arenas faster = getting more Twitch subs faster, which is crucial for getting word of this MOBA’s existence out to the casual and mobile markets. If CCP can capitalize on microtransactions from those players, then EVE will be in a very healthy state, and no one will be able to claim that it’s dying ever again.
