I am lending 100 B to @Riperd_Jacks . As usual, I am holding appropriate collateral, which has been contracted back to him for 102.5 B (including 2.5% interest). The loan will expire on 2024-12-03.

lmao, these two love birds continue to grind reputation year after year by borrowing money to each other hoping that one day they’ll be able to use their reputation to scam someone for billions of isk. don’t fall for it folks. we have seen this type of scam many times in the past. the victim(s) usually lost over 100 billions of isk when these scammers cash in on their grinded reputation.
Gotta say. Not very bright, are you?
Even if this was a scam in the end, it has helped me so many times. Without it, I wouldn’t have been so ISK liquid enough to reach a high level of wealth. All of this is done with collateral, so I don’t see how it would be a scam unless the difference between collateral and loan amount given is so huge.
But I’m not here to convince you. If everyone believes this is a scam, fine by me because I get to enjoy Styx’s isk all to myself for a low interest rate. Already going good for 2 years I guess. Ty Styx.
here is the catch in your scammy loan process.
- contract the collaterals to a 3rd party or to the person giving out the loan before the loan (isk) is sent to the borrower.
- when the reputation grinder wants to cash in, he/she will disappear after receiving the collaterals
easy… like i said, even a person with half a working brain can see it coming. but some people who play eve have less than half a working brain so sometime this scam works
There’s no third party needed. If I understand correctly the loan works like this:
-
Riperd wants to borrow 100b isk.
-
He makes a contract with Styx for 100b isk in exchange for some items of his that are worth around 100b.
-
Styx makes a second contract for 100b (plus interest) in exchange for the same items he got from Riperd in the first contract. Riperd will pay this contract to get his items back when the loan is complete.
So there is never a point in time when Riperd or Styx control both the isk and the items.
This means the only way a scam can happen is if Riperd sends items worth a lot more than the loan to Styx in that first transaction and Styx refuses to give them back. Or vice versa if Riperd sends items worth less and refuses to send the isk back at the end.
Either way the damage would be mitigated by the other party still holding either the isk or items.
@Tangarchik_Ru am I missing something?
