Yes, because when the bomber pilot has multiple points the miner still dies. Why would you voluntarily sit in space with a known hostile present and no defense besides “I hope they don’t have the thing that will guarantee that I die”?
Intel exists. You can look up the cloaky on zkillboard to see how many warp core stabs you should fit.
You know that point about stupid players? You’re demonstrating it.
I’m merely saying this module has good uses.
You’re just demonstrating your (ungrounded?) dislike for the module very clearly. What is it that this module has done to you to make you hate it that much? Did it make you miss kills or something?
And please elaborate how I’m demonstrating to be a ‘stupid player’. I understand that people may change their bomber fit in between sessions, but are you aware of how many people stick with the same fit all the time? People are usually really predictable. And if it happens that they did bring an extra point, good for them!
Warp core stabilizers allow an arms race between players. It makes ships like the Maulus Navy Issue worthwile and gives faction scrams with the +3 strength instead of +2 a good purpose.
Take away warp core stabilizers and all anyone ever needs is a single point to hold a ship. Boring.
You mean besides the warp button? Do you think they can’t code for the extra button press?
This just punishes players.
those saved some of my indy ships many times I would not call using them dumb but using them wrong is dumb.
way far from the true. I allways watch Intel fit for tank and have an eye in local all the time. but eve is eve and ■■■■ happens. I took a hell long warp of 65 AU in my alt’s miner and when I landed a red was allready there and pointed me. if I had a stab fitted there is maybe could avoid the loss.
Well, let’s just say that I don’t know how to use them effectively. I would probably find an alternative solution rather than reaching for the WCS.
yeah thing is they work only in specific situations witch make them ok for me.
They are effective in a couple situations:
- Fit multiple of them to be able to ignore cloaky campers on your hauler or travel fit (but don’t let it replace a scout!)
- Fit them if you already have enough agility and tank on a non-combat fit yet want to be even harder to catch
- Fit them against someone who always predictably uses the minimum of one point to catch you (arms race! I love modules that are sub-optimal for general use but do counter specific other modules )
- Fit a single one to have a little more time to warp off (tackle closing in with point and scram will apply only point first due to range, giving you an extra tick to warp off)
- Fit a single one of them on your bait Procurer to ‘force’ enemy tackle into scram range, which happens to also be your scram and web range so you can kill them. And if he stays outside your tackle range while waiting for his backup to arrive, the WCS allows you to just warp off.
They are ineffective in a couple other situations:
- Combat fit (your fit will suffer from bad targeting and the lack of a useful mod in the lows)
- Bubbles
- Scrams that turn off your MWD or MJD (no, warp core stabs don’t help against that)
- Regular fleet mining fit (you would do better to pick yield, defences, agility or drone damage instead)
In the end, it’s up to you to decide how to defensively fit your non-combat ship. Do you go for extra tank to survive crashing the gate or waiting for backup or CONCORD? Do you go for that tiny bit of extra agility to shave another second to spend less time in space? Do you go for the MWD cloak trick? ECM burst? ECM drones? Neuts? Smartbombs?
There are many ways to prepare your ship to make it able to get rid of tackle. Warp core stabilizers are just one of the many useful tools. Sometimes bad, but sometimes you really need to bring scissors rather than rock to beat paper.
Ganker’s tears… sweet.
wait until anti-cloak. lots of super pvpers man gonna cry.
