Fixed exploits

Hello, CCP should keep a list of previously declared exploits that was later fixed if they dont already. It can help the company avoid introducing new exploits in future patches.

Last but not least it should be publically avaiable so that players can go over it and get some nostalgia but it could also be helpful to others.

There’s no upside for this list being available externally, and probably already exists internally.

It adds transparency to the company

That’s of no tangible benefit

Important fixed exploits are on the exploits page, like “avoiding CONCORD” is not possible anymore as far as I know.

I don’t see the value of publicly sharing all obscure exploits, this only increases the chance players get to know them, abuse them or get inspiration to find and abuse similar exploits.

Bad idea.

Once an exploit is disclosed it becomes less of an exploit. Keeping them hidden just makes them better.

@Dark_Lord_Trump Thanks for sharing. But that page seems like its missing a section.

Your self portrait is not actually any kind of justification though is it?

Was that not what you meant?

Not necessarily but also not necessarily not.

You’re asking for a list of all known exploits to be published which will give certain individuals things to try and while they might not work as the exploits are patched, they are now armed with greater knowledge to begin testing around the edges to look for new, adjacent exploits.

Meanwhile normal players get nothing from it, the developers make no additional money yet now require additional vigilance.

Where’s the benefit?

Claiming it will help more people find exploits and it wont help normal players seems like a contradiction.

Besides, more people looking for exploits seems like a good thing.

The more transparancy you have the more white hats for lack of a bettter term you attract. But i could be wrong.

Imagine if the exploit list also showed who first brought the exploit in question to CCPs attention

In this context, the distinction is “hackers” and “non hackers”, servicing one group doesn’t benefit the other, in fact it can make things worse for the non hacker group. Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to use Contactless payments on your phone but today’s the day you left your wallet at home and today’s also the day the bank wants you to pin-verify? That’s what hackers achieve for non-hackers in a banking and payments context.

In a video game it will look like the removal or gimping of certain features.

On a website, like, I dunno, Reddit? That can look like you having to “wait 9 minutes to post again”

You get the idea - well, you would get the idea if you weren’t doing some sort of stubborn mule routine right now

Edit to add:

You are wrong.

Totally unrelated to the topic, but I have a nice thing to share: An historian once told me that in ancient greece where the open forum discussion became widespread, sometimes people got put to jail and were thrown into a pit or poisoned if they provoked the audience and disturbed public peace one time too often! Isn’t that interesting? Lets discuss it or not!

If you have thin skin you dont belong in video game industry least of all EVE online

@Syzygium The greek empire went extinct

I’d rather like to see thin-skinned people than thick-headed people here, to be honest. At least the former listen to criticism, if only a bit too much.

That’s in a unique category of its very own.
They’ve patched out all the known methods of avoiding the righteous retribution of CONCORD. Further, ccp have declared that should anyone, deliberately or unintentionally, find a new means to avoid CONCORD, then that is an Exploit and the banhammer may be wielded.

Not even so much as a bug bounty.

Kinda makes it pointless to try.
