Fleeting up for Drifter Crisis is Disappointing

So I don’t know what I’m missing here, but I’m going to rate this as one of the worst managed events in the game so far. I have attempted now twice to get into a crisis event fleet at sites a mere few jumps from trade hubs, once outside of Jita and once outside of Dodixie. I have a very strong kiki and auguror fit, and was basically willing to go and refit into anything if it meant I would get into a fleet. I just wanted to experience this content and maybe have fun in the event. I have now wasted 2 hours of my life I will never get back, and could have gone to make actual money in the abyss during all of that time, just waiting for a fleet, all to no avail–all for an event geared toward new, low skill ships and therefore should be inviting to newer players. For the record I am NOT in any way a newer player, and being forced into T1 ships was frankly, annoying as hell.

I am pretty much hating everything about how this event was managed. You are forced into crap ships to control the “difficulty” apparently. You are forced into fleets of at least 3, which precludes duo multiboxing. The sites cannot be soloed. And apparently nobody wants to take in random pilots anyway, even when they have optimal fits, ships, and skills. I mean WTF? This event apparently caters even MORE to people that run 5 or more accounts at once and ■■■■ everyone else. They don’t need take in randoms because they can just make their own fleet.

I hope there are people having fun with this event. It seems very interesting, but omg got did CCP faceplant and get run over by a bus in how access and information to this event was desiged and delivered. At first, I didn’t even know how to find where the event sites were, and even after that if it wasn’t for Google and Youtube there would be no easily accessible information on how to complete them.

I wish more than anything that we could just have something like the Trig invasions back because honestly, screw overmanaged, under-communicated, and over-restricted ■■■■ like this.

At the start of the event, I noticed there wasn’t a lot of discussion or even awareness of it in various game channels. That’s primarily why I started a thread discussing the event:

As the event moved along, I’ve mentioned it and pointed out details in various chat channels, trying to encourage a little more interest. I haven’t got a lot of time myself at this time of year to play it, but it seemed like a good effort on CCPs part and I try to promote interest in that sort of thing.

However as you mentioned, the primary holdback for a lot of players who don’t have corps that can run these, is the need to travel to, fit for, and fleet up at these sites. I can see that CCP wants to include ‘newer players’ and less skill-intensive fits, and also encourage people to fleet up, and both those are great ideas. But as you say, the overall travel + fit + fleet combo is making it difficult for players to get the sites done at all. Except multiboxers, of course.

The current Event ‘points’ track also has some issues where you need to do all types of content rather than just a few kinds to progress.

It might help to try the Agency tab Fleet Up!, which sometimes shows a public fleet forming. Or you can check the looking-for-group chat channel, which has grown from average 35-ish people in it to over 50 or 60 at times during the event.

I haven’t seen anyone recommending other methods or channels to help form fleets for the event, but perhaps if people have some ideas they’ll share them here.

Best of luck with it!

Thank you, yes. I will try those as well, but I figured that it would be better to go the system and ask in local, maybe not since it has accomplished nothing. I’m not really willing to fly all over EVE to try out an event. I wish more than anything that CCP had dedicated a chat channel, mailing list, anything that would have made it easier to fleet up. As it stands, I will probably just go back to mining and running the abyss. At least I can access that content reliably.

Get involved with a corp that is running these, you should be able to find one that aligns with most of your chosen factions. For the Empires, these will likely be your faction warfare pilots as an example.
