Forum flagging and rules needs to be reviewed

You already have no respect in my eyes so your point is moot.

Edit; @Xeux Mr E is ok. To me he had done something I thought was beneath him. I tend to hold some people who post to a higher standard but forgot were all human.

Your mind works in unusual ways, MB. I find it most intriguing, if somewhat confusing.

This thd already cuts a fine line. Were lucky it’s still active.

All I can say is the ISD has been very fair to me. Naming an ISD for his sense of humor would just point him out for unfair treatment.

Glad to keep you guessing!

No hard feelings I hope. We all differ on some points.

Well it’s been a civil discussion so far, like the previous mod thread…

I got my wish! The thd was still open when I got home.

What is wrong with Mr E? I thought he was one of us.

Or do something about the person or person’s doing the excessive flagging. A lot of times it’s done just out of spite.

Exactly right. The forum flag option has been weaponized by some people in an attempt to silence those with opposing viewpoints and hopefully get them removed / banned from the forums.

Due to being anonymous and the fact that alt characters are used quite extensively in these forums, a single person can easily give the impression that a majority of forum members either agree or disagree with a specific topic or posted reply.

Add in a couple of friends and they can easily meta-game the forums by creating a fake echo chamber, possibly even influence moderation and or game development in the process. Ultimately they complete their goal of chasing posters with opposing viewpoints away from the forums. Over the years I’ve seen that happen quite a lot, to the point now that the amount of active members in these forums is just a shadow of what it use to be.

I disagree, they are suppose to be like Concord and only take action after a violation has been flagged.

They are not suppose to order, intimidate or threaten forum members, nor dictate or redirect the general consensus of opinions that actually conform to forum rules with their heavy-handed censorship of deleting replies and locking threads just because they portray a negative viewpoint.

And then to justify their actions, they post a generic reply containing a long list of possible violations and if anybody questions or disagrees with their actions, they then do it again and use the excuse that discussion of moderation is not allowed.

To top it off, they pick and choose which replies and threads are allowed to remain active. Instead of enforcing the forum rules fairly and equally among all forum members, they will condemn one person for actions yet condone another person doing the same actions. That type of action shows bias and prejudice which was brought up in the old ‘Moderation Thread’ being referenced in this thread…

In fact I’m actually surprised this thread is allowed to remain active, especially when a few replies in another thread, that ISD either deleted or allowed to remain hidden, were flagged for off-topic posting about that same old ‘Moderation Thread’.

Yeah, I agree. I’ve said my piece and now I’m:

As long as everything remains civil and we don’t delve into personal attacks etc, then like the other moderation thread, this can stay open. Thanks to the other one, the ISD’s did receive some new power.

Is that the official stance?

Maybe @ISD_Dorrim_Barstorlode can confirm your authoritative assertion.

My point about flag baiting, is that exactly this shouldn’t be possible. They have a set of rules and either a post is within the rules or not. Doesn’t matter how many or by whom it is flagged.

Additionally, the forum software should manage the flags in order to create a manageable workflow for the ISD’s. I suspect, that the way they have it setup now is not optimal.

You wanna be the change, you could always volunteer to become one… Since apparently all the new ISD’s are either on extended vacations or realized they really don’t wanna mess with the forums.

I think pointing out this issue in a civil and constructive manner is enough.

I don’t want to deal with you guys (forum regulars) on a daily basis. Not sure what kind of masochist signs up for that.

Paid mods in other games as well as mods NOT pulled from the player base understand this. But for some reason, volunteer EVE mods pulled from the player base seem to feel they have some sort of discretionary powers over who get removed and who gets to keep breaking rules.

A real conundrum.
