Freelance: Suggestion / discussion

So - The freelance system.

From what I understand it was created as a meaningful contact point between target audience and corps (New players + vets),

From what I have observed, the system is mostly used to bait new players into being podded / using players for content.

I wonder if Freelance is doing that or not.

I do wonder if an “Agent standing” system could be useful, where people can leave impressions / ratings on a corp’s posting, so that people can come to consensus on validity of posted missions or not.

Outside of that, I have wondered -

Freelance does not directly solve needs of a Corp.
I did consider if Evermarks could be rewarded to both parties on a Freelance job completion. In that Corps can have a predictable ISK sink for Evermarks that can then be spent on rewarding their own corp in the form of services.

Over all, I like the system for recruitment and soft power, but I think it needs a rating system and some direct benefit to the Corp taking the time and sinking their ISK, otherwise it’s charity (Has a place, but limits engagement)

In its current form, IMO Freelance will cause a net loss in players due to the inevitable use/misuse by players to create content from other players. I must admit, that the creativity of some of these job offers to hide the fact that accepting them is actually detrimental to the one accepting the offer, is impressive. Useful for null sec corps, but apparently worthless for nearly everyone else.

Tbh this is a desaster par excellence. One has to ask the question if there is no quality department that checks a new idea for loopholes/abuse potential. Did they even ask the CSM? I mean, everyone of those guys should be able to tell them what are good ideas and what are bad ideas when implementing stuff like that. And so far it looks like they only used the bad ones. For whatever reason.

I don’ think it being abusable is an issue. Long term, it should be valid use of the tool.

But it shouldn’t be the only real use of the tool - and I think a rating system would make it more effort scam wise.

Part of the messaging for EVE is being able to work your way into a corp and then steal / disrupt them.

I feel the abuse of Freelance work should take the same level of effort and intrigue.

Maybe using Freelance to paint targets to later pop. Sure, used for targeting and the like.

But - “Fly down to X” to pop them is just asking new players to enter the blender.

I was online over near the Couster system where all the new players train. There is a job offering mining for zero ISK. The corp wants you to send them the items you mine in a contract and then they will pay you.

I don’t see this as anything I will promote, or take part in, on either end of the stick. The mechanics are not well thought out at all. If they want to do user generated missions, all they had to do was set up a reward assessment system based on the risk of the assignment. When Lucy gets back from their vacation, I might suggest it. But I don’t see any benefit and a lot of scamming going on.

Fly safe o7

As long as the number of players doesn’t significantly drop from one day to the other CCP will continue to throw **** at the wall  They dont mind failures as long as it only causes a slow decay

Malcanis’ law never fails.

I wish I could say this was an understatement, but this feature went from hero (FanFest presentation) to zero (Freelance panel discussion) in less than 24 hours. Here’s everything you need to know about Freelance:

• The reward for posting a Freelance job is ADM

Not standings, not LP - ADM (Activity Defense Multiplier). This is solely a way for null-sec to “outsource” ADM to the masses and possibly pickup a few new recruits along the way. Does anyone really think any of the null-sec alliances are going to drop their paranoid 10-page application process to vet players in lieu of throwing a few “cookies” out there for prospective new players?

Beyond null-sec jobs, the rest can be summed up in one word: scams. The secondary purpose of Freelance projects is to entice unsuspecting players to “come to low-sec/null-sec”, meet new and interesting players - and then be killed by them.

Public Jobs Sounds Like Public contracts. What may go wrong.:smirking_face:
Seems CCP doesn’t learn about the Capsulers behaviors. 22 years and still they came up with this stpd idea.

Many of us called it the first day of the FanFest presentation: Scams, more scams and “hey look, a shiny new feature” (“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!”)

Hi all!
I have a dilemma regarding job filtering. Among the job types, I would really appreciate having an option to filter out the jobs I’m not eligible to participate in. Right now, I have to open each one individually, only to realize I can’t apply. Once, I went through 15 jobs before finding one I was actually eligible for.

Or maybe this kind of filter already exists, and I just couldn’t find it.

Thanks in advance!

LoL yes, they have some real stupid ones for sure. Happy Birthday is age dependent your character must be 365 days old, no more, no less. Then they have one for shooting players in high sec. Oh, let me set my protection level to red… oh no! I am an alpha player I can’t shoot people in high sec. Then you wonder, what ship are the omegas willing to lose to the CONCORD when they go criminal? The contract pays out a whole 80 ISK!
Too funny!

I found one that offered 20m ISK for 1,000,000 NPC… kills (not damage). Or 20 ISK per kill, lol.
