Would it be viable for an astero to be able to orbit a cruiser outside web range with an afterburner, or would the cruiser hit it easily outside 10km?
It could, rails have terrible tracking, blasters stink at range, but a missile boat will hit you, lasers, some have good tracking, artillery could get an alpha strike but again they any turrets need to be fitted for tracking.
Oh, and auto cannons track pretty good but range is short.
So maybe, but keep range but that means you may not be able to keep them tackled.
And Astero being able to fit missiles as well could you not point him from 20km or 30 with a faction point and let your drones and missiles slowly eat him up?
The other problem ofcourse if you are using an AB you at at the mercy of people in cruisers with MWD. Meaning they can quickly close range. If your goal is to stay out of range then you might need to consider MWD and not a AB.
This is why EVE is fascinating. You can face 3 Thoraxes and each one would be fitted for a different purpose or engagement, and one of them might just be a double web frigate killer.
The idea is to use a warp disrupter on a cruiser that is using an AB and let the drones eat it up.
Cool.
I am just pointing out you cannot always be guaranteed that your target will have a AB. You are also in his disruptor range.
You can do it for sure, but a semi competent pilot could slingshot you or just kill your drones.
Totally. Here is an example of it being used in this way:
Edit:
Astero can’t use missiles

Ehem… no. You can do it with a MWD though.
