From Extraction To Production: Update

Oh I did not test, I only looked at the module attributes

Glad to hear compression should disallow tethering.

Do you happen to know if it also is disallowed inside a POS?

And they should. The only time you should use anything else is when you have to be fast. j-space ninja-mining in the daily static, for example.

have not tested yet with the new changes but if im reading them right what is the reason to progress if the higher tech is higher waste.

no one like to train long skills to have a larger loss value.

Sisi not being updated means nobody has.

Anyway the Compact industrial Cores Acitivation could be even lower? A lot of Solo players with 3 acounts (1 orca + 2 barges) mining in Dangerous space with no umbrella were relying on the orca to boost because he was quick enought to get to safety. Now… people will just watch it get tackled and killed. For large group that might not be an issue… because they could field Rorqs protected with 100 supers. In lowsec, with the industrial patch that came out Rorqual price sky rocketed and people started to use them less. I think the current risk vs reward balance is a bit intense for those of us who mine in dangerous space without umbrella.

They wrote in the blog that they wanted to give the choice to be the miner with the pickaxe, very slow but getting everything, or the miner with an excavator, taking a lot in a short time but also destroying some.

In every case in which you are only concentrating on a very profitable ore and you have no competition on it then T1 is the best choice so you can get it all for yourself, but this is not the only reality of EVE, nor the only one that matters.
Most minerals around New Eden are not mined at all because they are not the absolute best for profit, it will become worth using wasteful modules/crystals on those. After all as long as you are not the one mining the last rock you can as well consider them infinite

eh, I believe the Porpoise the meant to be the dedicated ship for this scenario

I’m confused, why would anyone ever use an Orca?

I don’t see any benefit to putting in field, its value/potential loss for what it gives doesnt seem to match up. It cant tank like a rorq but its still expected to sit in belt stuck there in siege.

How about distinguish further between role of Orca and Rorq. Like make the Orca king of range for boosts so it can sit in relative safety. Currently I still dont see anyone undocking their Orca’s. In fact probably worse now since those that mined in them were afk miners. Accept now, the ship doesnt seem to fit anywhere.

That requires that you have the side menu open. That is not what I want and that is not what should be required. Besides, the cargo button should be the primary button in the HUD to access all holds of a ship anyway – regardless how much you want to make your life harder yourself.

any chance the fuel requirements be a little less? considering the uses of an orca and the amount of use vs a rorq, the orca will be guzzling through heavy water compared to a rorq. @CCP_Psych

also if the compact timer is 2:30 cycles and not 5 minutes then that def needs to be adjusted as that’ll be the worst fuel economy to ever maintain. maybe if it was 350-450 heavy water for the T2 module and whatever is appropriate for T1?

I do not have the side menu open and I will never have the side menu open because it is a huge waste of space. CCP may love huge windows but I do not. I love compact windows (see above for the size of my cargohold and how big the side menu is if you want to use it productively) and this side menu does not allow compact windows. Hence, it requires more clicks or short cuts to open all kinds of holds of a ship.

And it’s besides the point anyway because the cargo button should be the primary button for access to these holds anyway. It should have the same functionality as the Scanner button in the HUD.

What about the asteroid belts with no ore in?
We have a multitude of nullsec systems with asteroid belts with no ore. Having asteroid belts with no actual asteroids doesnt make sense. Is it really that game breaking to add ore back in the belts/remove the very hungry npc miners? What about the ore sites they eat also such as abc sigs and mercoxit rare spawns eaten by npc’s before you had a chance to even undock?

40k m^3 fleet hangar, 16000 ? m^3 ore hangar. Especially the fleet hangar makes it much less of a clickfest over a porpoise, while the ore hangar allows you to afk for longer w/o the drones stopping to mine.

The obvious advantage should be, but is not, mobility. A battleship outperforms a dreadnaught at pew-pew-pewing things, not only because it’s damage application is superior, but the raw DPS also is. Until the dreadnaught sieges that is. A sieged dread may outperform a BS greatly but it can no longer move, while a BS can approach an objective during combat, or can decide to get off grid if combat gets too hot.

The orca/porp should also outperform the Rorqual unless the Rorqual engages it’s siege. Instead, it’s “bigger is better” in the ORE command ship line.

IDK about you, but me personally and many others that i know actively use orca’s as boosters for alts and friends/corp/alliance mates. not everyone is an afk orca miner. and the extra boosting % is a huge win and even more reason to use them for boosting.

just as long as they reduce the heavy water consumed because its fuel inefficient compared to a rorq since the indy timer is half that of a rorq

Actually there are but it require that ccp buff the ship stats, like more powergrip and more cpu to fit a GOD damn large capacitor booster and a X-large shield booster

Thanks Moko, just think there’s a lot of options to explore and currently feels a little limited and not very exciting. Ideas like stacking boosts if each command ship is on field (Porp/Orc/Rorq). Or maybe give one a command burst range advantage. Or give the Orca the ability to MJD close by mining ships.

I still dont understand the mining out of belts and npc sigs. That’s really negative gameplay if you ask me. It doesn’t fit in with this whole age of prosperity.

freighters and use it within the system or within 2-4 jumps of the system. But I do get the concern

BS !
Adjustments can be done by adjusting yield from bonus (ship role bonus, skills bonus) and modules, and/or adjusting ore availability/distribution. Waste play no positive role that can’t be done more easily by existing mechanics.

If they wanted to only increase total ore/minerals by 20-40-60-80-100%, they can do that without the uncessary and complexity of the new waste mechanic.

Plus, waste is going to create a mess with mining mission.

Waste has to go, except, maybe, for type C crystals, as it is going to play a new role.
