Iāve never seen 5 - 6 skiffs in one asteroid belt. A lot of the time its just me on my own, or one or two other miners. The idea that they could all take on the gankers is just pure nonsense. Most have zero turret weaponsā¦because the available turrets are being used for mining lasers. Iāve seen a few with combat dronesā¦but the idea that 4 or 5 combat drones could lock onto and take down half a dozen Catalysts before they rain dps on some miner is just utter fantasy.

Concord are PART of the action. They are not just a bunch of guys who āhappenā to show up by chance. Their very NPC existence is an intrinsic factor that gankers know about and PLAN for.
To call that PvP is an insult to all those who, with genuine skill and tactics, take on other players in PvP with no NPC intervention or rescue. But clearly, gankers are not up to that and have to resort to pretending that a dozen Catalysts massacring a Procurer is āPvPā and the gankers are heroes.
Heck, we even have Aiko, above, bragging about zonking noobs in rookie space. Somehow I must have missed the handing out of the relevant PvP Medal Of Honour for the heroic bravery and skill.

Sure, my Procurer has 5 hobgoblins and 5 mining drones in the drone bay. But I can only field 5 drones at a time. Ideally, one wants all 5 mining drones in actionā¦I mean, that is what they are there for. The hobgoblins are primarily there for warding off ratsā¦as I mine in 0.5 areas and so get the benefit of both mining and ratting at the same time. But with rats one has time to retrieve the mining drones and send out the hobgoblins.
Retrieving mining drones and sending out combat drones simply isnāt practical in the time period that one has to respond to a ganker. And I doubt if even 5 combat drones are really going to make the slightest difference anyway if half a dozen Catalysts show upā¦so having some mixture of hobgoblins and mining drones is going to be even less effective.
Generally, if I sense trouble then Iāve long since retrieved all drones and fled to whatever safe spot ( out of D Scan range ) Iāve created in that region. The last thing Iād do is warp to a stargate.
So why are you even talking about drones? You already know how to evade a gank, so you do that.
Iāll tell you why, because you were responding to a person talking about baiting gankers into an ambush. IN that particular case they are using heavier more powerful drones and are in a fleet and are already launching them as tthe gankers are in bound.

Have you tried abandoning the mining drones instead of waiting for them to return? Then you can immediately launch the combat drones to fight off the attackers, which are right on top of your ship. So you have 0 drone travel time.

Yeah, like 6 catalysts with a collective DPS of 2,500 and who have planned it so they can take out a barge in under 15 secondsā¦are gonna be massacred by 5 Hobgoblins attacking them one at a timeā¦lol.
If the miner is lucky he might take out one Catalyst in that timeā¦bearing in mind that the miner has to target all 6 and wait for a lock, whereas each of the Catalysts only has one lock to wait for.

Okay, you can indeed choose to not warp away in time and to not fight back as it is all futile, and let them kill you.
I gave you advice on how to solve one of your problems of why you couldnāt fight back. You ignored the advice and respond with what can be transcribed to ābut I cannot fight back anywayā.
Question: do you actually want to fight back and does it help when we give advice on how to do so, or do you just want ganking to be nerfed to the point that you as possible gank victim donāt have to do anything beyond the bare minimum to survive?

Oh no, it is def a bait situation and just generally smart to field the most tank/drones you can. If its 4 catas, they gotta pump out enough DPS to chew thru a skiff with 80ishk EHP in less than 19 seconds.
If all the skiffs/orca/porps focus fire their drones on one cata at a time, itāll pop said cata thus removing their DPS. As the DPS drops, the chance of successful gank goes way down, esp if the porp/orca is smart and packs some shield boosts.
I realize you donāt actually PvP, so I understand why you donāt grasp the tactics of this situation. I find most people against ganking are not good at PvP at all.
I was gonna post a whole thread about it and tips in how to actually combat ganking effectively. But honestly? Yaāll donāt deserve it. You do the bare minimum and expect it to have you survive. Death is a friend, and he always finds you and its always your fault.

However, to go a step back, before CONCORD arrive on the scene; to the initial enagagement that triggered CONCORD, if you want to claim that isnāt PvP, then miners are really nothing more than NPC.
In that case, if gankers are just killing NPC, whatās your problem? Thatās no different to many other playstyles that kill dirty rats.
