Answering for others is sometimes completely understandable, helpful and constructive. But you seem to answer for others as nothing more than just a reflex.
In short, I wasn’t talking to you and it didn’t concern you. Butt out. The point wasn’t even about PVP in general.
If you actually read the thread, you’d see how she got wtfpwned by several posters on this subject.
You can’t bro. This whole paragraph clearly shows you draw an unhealthy and unrealistic correlation between behavior in a vidya game to real life. You seem to be under the impression that gankers are just terrible people IRL and frankly that’s childish and ignorant.
Ganking is an intended game play mechanic which is fully supported by in-game rules and the TOS. Facts don’t care about your feelings. No matter how much you’d like to be different.
Not really. They are executing an in game function. Not breaking any rules or TOS. Cry more please
More jibber jabber. Its not about the thread. Its about a post not directed at you, not about you, and not about PVP either. It was about Aiko’s useless ad hominems and attacking the messenger.
And that’s just the start. The rest of your post was just as abysmally missing the point. Its like you skip every other word when you read. I don’t know if you are trolling or if this is seriously how your thought process “works” (sic). But it sure is annoying and I suppose that’s why you are allowed to remain here.
Wasn’t harping about the TOS or what is or isn’t legit game play. The point was motive. I also didn’t say all gankers were terrible people IRL. Stop talking if you can’t follow. There is nuance here and it all seems well outside your league. You are just trying to cram words in my mouth sideways, and intentional or not, it is a form of griefing.
Cry? No. I thank you. That’s another fine example of pure griefing…out of game, out of role-play, and right here…on the forum.
There are only three options here. One is that you are liar. The other two are too personal for me to get away with suggesting.
The greatest solace I can take however is that, by now, everyone has figured out that you are the most false representative of other people’s thoughts and words on this forum.
ROFL. Yea. Cause I have every reason to trust rando internet stranger amirite? Peeps lie for all sorts of reasons. Man. You must lead a hard life with this perspective LOL.
Who draws clearly deranged parallels from a vidya game world to the real world?
oh boy. This has probably been mentioned already but the error here is so glaring i need to respond before reading another 100 posts.
You align to an something, then once aligned hit ctrl space to stop your ship. That makes you stationary but keeps you aligned to the thing you aligned to. So when you hit warp………Its insta. This lets you stay close to the asteriod. no problem with range. no problem with drones.
thats not how it works , if you arent moving at 75% of max velocity towards the align point you are not aligned, and you will have to accelerate before warping which in a slow barge takes time.
but keep telling the miners to passive align lol .
I live and learn. All i can say is ive never had any issues with this. Maybe Im just lucky.
Or maybe its just further evidence of how if you are actually at your keyboard an pay attention you wont get caught. Even if your understanding of mechanics is a bit sloppy
So this thread has it all right. Talk about the economy (and cillas car). Talk about ganker motivation. Accussations that all gankers are motivated by salt. Its been lovely.
So on the economy my view is ganking is a big plus for the game. The whole ecosystem is based on a cycle of destruction. If a gank results in a procurer and 7 catalysts being destroyed then thats 8 ships that players need to replace. Those replacements are bought from people building ships who have bought the ore from miners. If that destruction stops then nobody buys the ships, then nobody buys the ores……things dont sell, prices drop…….and all the miners that complained about ganking are now complaining that they spend a whole day in a belt and only make 1mill ISK because everything they are mining is surplass. But at least they can do it safely right?
Next reason why i believe ganking is important is risk. Belt rats provided zero risk to ventures in hi sec. A couple of light drones in your drone bay and the rats dont even scratch the paint. So there is no risk. If there is no risk there is no meaningful decisions or choices for a player to make. Why fit any defensive modules if there is no possibility you can be destroyed. Therefore we would see what we see in other MMO’s ………min/maxing. All fits would be a single derivative focused only on yield. The reduced fitting diversity would be bad. And we would be looking at more material mined in a situation where destruction is being reduced. Again thats going to reduce the value of mined ores, and items found in exploration over time.
Thirdly. Different play styles are good. This is not a game that we should all play the same way.
For the above and reasons and many many others. Most of which have been outlined by folks in this thread already Ganking is good for the game. Going as far as to say that removing ganking would have game breraking consequences.
In your dreams ! The only thing you have offered is total evasiveness…just keep repeating the same worn out, condescending, ’ miners are lazy, stupid, yada yada’ and pretending that 15 Catalysts taking out a one day old noob in a Venture is somehow ‘PvP’ on par with a single Catalyst taking on 15 bigger ships with actual weapons.
Lets face it…the majority of gankers are simply people who CAN’T PvP in any meaningful sense and so have to combine their collective uselessness into joining a team of 15 to go out and blow up some noob in a Venture and call themselves the heroes they’d like to be. Whilst I admire the solo gankers who are in it for big ISK…the majority of gankers are just today’s equivalent of the noxious kid in the basement typing ’ your mom sucks…’ and thinking they’ve achieved something stupendous in doing so.
Good God, ratting in a 1.0 security asteroid belt with a single Hobgoblin requires more gumption and bravery.
Actually…the economy as an excuse for ganking…well, the ‘destructive’ impact of ganking on the Eve economy is miniscule. A procurer can make its own cost in ore in just a few hours. Billions of ISK of ore get sold every day, and probably less than 1% falls prey to gankers.
Which is just as well, because if mining became too cost intensive then nobody would mine…and there’d be no ganker ships !
FAR from bringing about a ‘cycle of destruction’, the REAL impact of ganking is to cause more shield extenders, repair modules, etc, to be bought…and thus not more stuff destroyed but more stuff made, as people defend themselves against ganking. Because most ships are not destroyed by gankers, the net effect is that ganking doesn’t destroy more stuff…it creates it !
Yes…I had my own doubts about the whole passive align ‘advice’ for miners. There IS a little trick you can do in a cloaked Algos where max speed without MWD is 33m per second and yet somehow it instantly goes to warp on uncloaking, if aligned. But I have never, ever, noticed any difference at all with warping from a standstill if aligned vs not aligned. The whole passive alignment thing is an urban myth…yet ganker supporters love to use it as part of their things ‘stupid’ miners don’t do.
