Anyone have any advice on how to deal with a loki that seemingly 24/7 gate camps along one of my major mining routes? I know I can’t fight him 1-on-1 but can I avoid being detected somehow? Outmaneuver him? What’s the best way to deal with players like this?
Hire someone to blow him up or help you blowing him up?
While inconvenient perhaps find a different system to do you mining?
the 24/7 thing is just the felt timespam, they do have times they are there and not, you just need to be observant, and find those slots where they do better things. (humans are pattern based animals… you just need to find them)
what ship do you flying? a venture can do the cloak trick just fine …
if the ship is larger, i would just leave it behind and use a hauler that can do the same to get the ore back.
Unless they are botting it, they must be AFK at some point. I watched this video months ago, on YouTube, where someone had a cluster of ships hanging off the main trade hub in Jita looting. This person might be the one you need to contact to follow @Uriel_the_Flame 's adivce.
Personally, I would take a frigate, I can afford to lose and bump him. This is done by ramming him. Fly at his ship at full speed and see what happens after the bump. If the other ship doesn’t attack, he is probably AFK and much safer to pass.
Personally I always prefer to chart a course around them. Even in low sec pirate systems, it is possible to drop navigation locations to avoid the gate camper. You can drop a navigation markers while in your capsule. The only problem, is which side of the gate they camp. You need to pass through in a cheap shuttle and look for them. Then you come back in your hauler and use your custom nav route to avoid the direct flight path which can be bombed. When you warp through the other gate make sure you have enough shields to get cooked a bit. I have flown through Ahbazon and Rancer using this method.
Always remember the more you haul, the bigger their greed. This is why I stick with the cheap 3 million ISK haulers. A miasmos full of gas is still a tempting target, but they can be empty and not worth losing the loki in high sec.
This is sound advice, but assumes you are omega, I always give my best alpha advice to the new players. Welcome to Eve Online.
Have fun!
You may scan Wormholes and bypass dangerous chokes.
Not sure what “major mining route” means for you. You mean you travel in your miner and mine various systems along it? Then try different systems.
You mean you mine at one end of the route, but have to ship your ore back along that route to sell it? Then hire someone else ( Red Frog Freight or PushX ) to haul your ore for you.
Need to get past him when he isn’t active? Then use zKillboard to check his activity patterns and find the times he’s active and inactive.
Find some other PvPers in the area (can also use zKillboard for thise) and see if they’re interested in using you as bait to nuke the other guys. A few losses will cool their interest in hunting you.
If you’re getting hunted in the same areas of lowsec, then change area; change to WHs; change activity. If you establish a pattern of being in an area, then they’ll just establish a pattern of hunting you because you’re an easy and available target.
Along with the good advice already given by others, this may give you a few more options.
I appreciate all the sound advice here, I’ll try each of your suggestions, I’m certain at least one will end up working out.
