When a ship is being simulated and has modules removed and replaced with simulated modules, the simulated module would have a different colored outline, yellow maybe, to remind the player which modules have been simulated.
All modules are being simulated. If you don’t want them to be, offline them. MWDs need to specifically be in an online but inactive state, if you want to see what your capacitor is doing while in the same state.
