How do I retrieve items from a failed courier contract?

I contracted a lot of ore to my alt with hauling skills to move it and decided I’d rather move it to other place, I clicked ‘fail contract’ and now It doesn’t allow me to retrieve the ore. It says ‘Can’t do that in a mission package’. Help!
