It’s not all that uncommon. Most dedicated blops groups have a doctrine like this. We weren’t some guineas group that thought of it on our own.
But yeah the problem is eve is a game where fights need to be forced. You’re never going to get perfectly balanced 1:1 duels in a dynamic sand box. And good players aren’t going to take a losing fight. Cynos are just one way to attempt to force a fight. They are far from the most common or most effective.
Maybe we have a different understanding how math works.
The Redeemer has a Kill:Loss Ratio of 98.0 to 2.0
The Widow has a Kill:Loss Ratio of 97.0 to 3.0
The Sin has a Kill:Loss Ratio of 97.8 to 2.2
The Panther has a Kill:Loss Ratios of 98.4 to 1.6
This is approx five times as high as the Efficiency of Marauders for example which is around 90:10. FIVE TIMES.
The mechanic is simply broken. As said, a slight delay for those jumpdrives wouldn’t hurt the larger groups doing their larger battles. You can still attack a Rorqual or Orca or a Marauder, a Metenox, a Citadel, POCO, set up a camp somewhere deep in enemy space to trigger a response if you want to. You can still bridge in Smaller Support ships that would have to hold the field for a bit before the cavalry arrives. But you couldn’t catch small roaming gangs any more that simply don’t want to fight your clearly superior T2 Battleship Gang. And that would be pretty healthy for the game. No small gang should be worried in Lowsec that Cynos could be dropped on them and a blob coming through. If we come back to that point, Lowsec will thrive again, even outside the FW areas.
Again, you’re showing a lack of experience on the topic. Even post buff the vast majority of blops drops do not include the black Ops battle ships. You’re only jumping them after your already convinced you have won.
Most blops drops include bombers, recons, and/or t3c. Not black Ops battle ships
I never said something else, I absolutely do know what those Hotdroppers do, rest assured. It’s just not possible to get Blops-Loki-Stats or Blops-Legion Stats because they come in so many variants that you can’t filter pure BridgeKills out on zKill.
And that bridging is the exact problem we are talking about here: The possibility alone that someone throws 20 Lokis on your fleet out of nowhere is killing the space. Just look at the game, the poor status of Lowsec suffered absolutely correlating with the increase of cyno use. You can’t convince me otherwise, I was there when we hadn’t BlackOps Drops (yes, I mean bridges as well), I was there when we hadn’t Titanbridges and Dreads with HAW guns ready all day long. I was there. And it was better. There was more life, there were more fights, there were more groups, there was more fun. You can keep arguing against that if you wish, it doesn’t change the simple facts that there is a clear corellation to see here.
Thank you for proving me, once again. Multibillion ISK filthy rich vets jumping on anything that moves, with blinged to the death ships, blinged to the death pods and then still needing a cyno mechanic because - oh wonder - no one would fight them regulary.
You guys poisoned your own well. Go seek fights in Hurricanes, Drakes and Harbingers - empty pods, few Logis. There is your fun, you threw it out of the window, thats why you need teleporters now to even get someone you can force your guns upon.
