In primates like humans, our skin cells eventually die and come off one by one. Unless you have psoriasis or keratosis obtruans, your cells are coming off one by one as they replaced and are so small you can’t see them. Reptiles like geckos, snakes, and lizards shed their skin all at once and it looks pretty cool. However in some cases, they have trouble.
