If a node with 10k people on it crashes, would it hurt to give an update on it?

Nobody expected this to go smoothly, but at least one engineer could have stayed in the office past 17:00 to post “we are looking into it”

Context. I need some here.

Imperium is trying to anchor a keepstar in space that FRT claims as theirs. 10k people in system. Keepstar comes out of the anchoring timer, enemy warps in, servers crashes…..

And nothing, no peep from CCP, no message of the day on the launcher or whatever

Nvm, the engineer posted officially. Next time a deep breath before posting helps a lot!

The engineer is likely actually looking into it and sent a text to the community managers to let them know…and look a community member just let us know!

It’s a conspiracy! Everyone knows that ccp protects the swarm! It’s on every social media that exists!

OK, I may be talking garbage here… But that happened in the past.

I’m pretty sure Swarm was involved, I guess the other side was PH.

Is my memory betraying me? If not which side was the most benefited?

I mean, at some point this ■■■■ must stop. The coincidences can’t keep happening.

BUT I MAY BE TOTALLY WRONG HERE, I’m just remembering fragments of memory. It’s all allegedly.

If an internet node with 100,000 people crashes do you expect an immediate update? When power is cut off for 600,000 people do you expect immediate notification and resolution?

No. You wait for reports to go in, investigation to happen and work to be done to resolve the problem.

Patience: can’t be trained in game but is extremely important.

What is funny, is that CCP did respond about 3 minutes after OPs post. Some people’s patience is just non-existent.

They’re just excited for a 10 hour tidi fight

When a third of the game’s population is seeing a ‘node crashed’ screen of an anticipated event that would cause high risks of server issues that was known to CCP well in advance I would expect CCP to be on stand by and send reports when the node does crash.

But luckily that happened:

If one of the biggest events of the year is about to happen and you are notified about it in advance, then hell yes I expect people to be on standby and ready to communicate, especially if you know a server crash is the most likely outcome

If you think it is a likely outcome, why would you intentionally do it?

If it was likely, why are you upset about it happening?

It’s likely because the servers cannot always handle a fight of this size.

People hope that the server keeps up while the fight happens, they don’t intentionally attempt to crash the server, but you never know if it will. We’re here for a fight.

I agree. I like to be on the side of caution with technology though. I’m not technology smart and I rely on others for that, so I suspect that CCP didn’t think a node would die. Accidents happen, technology does weird things.

For example, I have this built in cup holder on my desktop PC that doesnt like to hold my coffee cup. I don’t know they put it there knowing it would not work as intended. But they did.

CCP is the sole expert in server crashes of EVE fights this size.

If anyone should know and anticipate issues it’s them.

If I got called into work on a holiday because of 10k nerds, I would send them somewhere.

I hear the fight is still going?

More like, Goon supers are still stuck there. I’m not sure if they tried to break the camp or not yet.
