If you have gpu lag issues, check your Proton Version

Hi there,

after moving to Proton9-27 , the gpu performance increased a bit.

You can simply download it at github and unpack it manually. If you need a hint how to do it, check the Post here on “how to fix the 3.4.2025 Launcher upgrade”.

Some folks might also have something like “ProtonUp-Qt” available. Makes proton versions very easy to manage.
Just remember to restart steam after forcing in a new proton; it only lists options it sees upon startup.

If your launcher is broken:

  1. Download GE-Proton9-27
  2. mv .../GE-Proton9-27/files/* /home/$USER/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine/lutris-GE-Proton9-27-x86_x64/
  3. WINEPREFIX="/home/$USER/Games/eve-online-2024" /home/$USER/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine/lutris-GE-Proton9-27-x86_x64/bin/wine "/home/$USER/Games/eve-online/drive_c/users/$USER/AppData/Local/eve-online/Update.exe"
  4. WINEPREFIX="/home/$USER/Games/eve-online-2024" /home/$USER/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine/lutris-GE-Proton9-27-x86_x64/bin/wine "/home/$USER/Games/eve-online/drive_c/users/$USER/AppData/Local/eve-online/eve-online.exe"

Folder names will change, for example it might be “eve-online-2024” instead of “eve-online” and “Update.exe” might be “Updater.exe”
Tweak the above for your setup and method of running the game.
