I recently put together an app inspired by Pirate’s Little Helper. I’ve always liked the idea of quickly seeing who’s who in local chat, so I built something similar with a few extra touches.
The app works by letting you copy all names from local chat, then it checks the public ESI to pull each player’s security status, their most recent kill, what they killed, and where it happened. To make things faster, it caches results for 15 minutes — so if you scan again and someone’s already been checked recently, it skips them and reuses the stored data.
You can also right-click any character to assign them a custom colour, add notes, and link their zKillboard profile. All notes and colour settings are saved persistently in a JSON file, so your customizations stick between sessions.
For example, if you know a character is a combat site runner, you can give them a specific colour and add a note like “site runner.” You can then filter results by colour or security status range.
The interface is also flexible — you can drag the window to collapse columns and keep it minimal, showing only the name and security status when you want a cleaner view.
Would anyone be interested in this kind of app?
