Following the latest devblog covering the upcoming Exordium region, we are curious to hear your feedback, answer questions, and address any concerns you may have. The region won’t be accessible for some time, and you’ll be able to hear more about it at Fanfest and in the coming weeks.
Exordium will have a new “starter space” security tier that completely prevents PvP within its borders. While players are in Exordium, their safety will be locked to green, and other normal methods of legal engagement in highsec, such as limited engagements, wars, and factional warfare, will not apply.
so you can’t even steal other people’s loot there.
This region’s only two-way connection to the rest of the New Eden cluster will be a single stargate leading to Yulai, which is currently under construction. Four shipcasters, each within an embassy constellation held by one of the four major factions, will also allow one-way access to that faction’s sovereign territory.
I welcome the clueless new newbies to EVE. They will have a very rude awakening when they leave Exordium. They’ll get ex’d instantly by the sheer difference between there and here.
Unironic consequence of the 1.0 to 0.9 downgrade: Ganking just got a bit easier in highly contested high sec areas.
Do the current starter systems, career agent systems eventually lose their protected status against PVP?
This means that now systems that were 1.0 become less secure and more attractive to gankers at 0.9.
@CCP_Swift will you adjust so that now 0.9 systems will get same fast concord response as current 1.0 systems ? as 1.0 systems will have disabled all combat.
Is it possible to travel to Yulai, enter the ‘no PvP zone’ in a hauler and get safely teleported to a faction trade hub of choice through one of these shipcasters?
Because that does sound like an easy way to exploit the perfect safety of this new region, and seems like an unintended consequence of it’s ‘low economic impact’ design to me. This could have high economic impact for both hauling speed and hauling safety to me.
So, which way do the shipcasters send ships, and does this allow cargo too?
Exactly. Caldari and Amarr are quite a bit shafted here because they only have dangerous access to Yulai, while Gallente and Minmatar have very safe routes to Yulai.
I think, overall a good step.
I see a lot of potential with this, without damaging the core mechanics of New Eden (too much), although it definitely feels like we kinda gave in and made a “carebear space”.
The deterrents to stagnating there (higher taxes, lower rewards, etc.) are a good idea.
I think “fun” is rather subjective.
I can see a lot of potential for interesting interactions based on the introduction of “Exordium”.
If anything, another mechanic to work-around.
What happens with career agents in current starter systems and the soe arc?
Will the rookie griefing policy be lifted on patchdsy or some time after?
And will it be possible to anchor upwell structures in existing starter systems like couster etc?
