Separate Space for Newbies?

As Anounced Today There Are new Systems coming for New Players. Pressumingly to give them a save Space to Start. But….

Are you Serious? Preventing New Players to get Advice and Connected to the old Players will lead to a crack between both groups.

Old Players will not be able to help newbies, because they are in different space nobody seen before.

They will Quit after changing to known space and getting fire on the reallife.

I would rather suggest savesystems. Where Any Attemp to shoot a Capsuleer will lead to get Pot transfered into Nullsec. Without being able to clonejump or Potkill for 24 hours. Leaving the Ship for the Capsulears to enter. (Maybe even with a opportunity who shoots on the indesdructable Culprit in Null getting for each hit some of his isk from his wallet?)

Please Consider your steps precisly or it may lead to a harm of the player experience. New and old.

Get a grip, man. There is zero information about how the new space is organized, how it will work, or how it will connect to the rest of the Eve universe. You are basically just imagining things and then getting mad at them.

Most games have this “are you sure you want to jump in the PIG pond prematurely” button. I wouldn’t sweat it just yet. I don’t think the developers would force these new players into a safe area, and instead keep veteran accounts out of them.

why else adding space and declaring that like they did? They said: This new region of space will eventually form the area where newly created characters take their first steps in EVE Online as part of continued improvements to the New Player Experience (NPE).

How should that be necessary if you don’t want to add a Space where old Capsuleers can’t enter?

Yeah man, I was definitely talking about just the literal existence of the space and not your childish hysterics in response.

Could you at least add a link to a source before crying blood murder? What kind of reponses do you expect if all that people know is what you threw at their feet?

thank you.

Well, before we know what restrictions CCP puts on those new systems when it comes to income generation, pvp, skillpoints or age for staying there, item- and isk-transfer into the “normal universe” etc…, we can’t really tell wether it’s going to be good, okayish or a desaster.

So, lets just wait for more information I guess…

Right. Like, really all it says is, “Hey, we’re working on a refurb of the NPE and the only reason we’re mentioning it right now is because about 1/3 of you will come unglued at the presence of new systems on Hoboleaks and we want to head that off. Details to follow.”

ok let’s see but if you going to separate new players from the old i guess strongly that you will destroy the community and gameplay. Most of us getting big by connecting and getting lead by old players!

I struggle to see what exactly you mean with “separating new players from old players”?

It isn’t like these forums, the discord, the rookie-help channels, the recruitment channels, the reddit etc. would disappear or get invisible for new players.

What stops is this mass-mailing 1day olds with referring links and depot-spamming the starter areas to lure new chars into ‘totally awesome highsec mining corps’ to literally use them as living bots and tax, scam or otherwise extort them instead of really helping them.

Seems fairly standard to me, the AIR tutorial already happens in space where you can’t visit once you’ve left it, this seems like it will probably just be an expanded version of this, so they will be handed a bunch of things they won’t likely get to keep outside of tutorial specific rewards like a free frigate etc and probably be broken up enough that newbies can encounter each other but also be spread out enough that you can’t really interfere much with them during those first learning steps

I don’t really see an issue with this

I don’t care for the NPE as it is. They lock you out of the market, chat. UI settings and other odd choices while you’re going through it. With functions being incrementally activated as you progress. I wouldn’t want to be stuck in that state for longer time period.

It would be nice to have new player systems in pirate space. Let old players actually join and new character start in pirate space with pirate faction career agents.

It does not even expressly say that the new region will be inaccessible except for new players.

I don’t think it’s necessarily unlikely that will be the case, but it doesn’t actually say that. It just says it’s a new region and will be where new players start.

yeah, I never understood why CCP doesn’t protect the client-data by encrypting the stuff that contains items, NPCs, ships, systems etc… no wonder if any new content is almost instantly minmaxed.

I think it’s a bad idea to add more systems. The ones we already have are already underpopulated. Granted newbies doing the tutorial don’t meaningfully interact with anyone else anyway (something the new tutorial hopefully will fix), but removing them outright is still just going to add twelve new systems to a highsec that needs two hundred fewer systems.

This stuff is right in the static data export that’s used for every third party app, it’s not even really “datamined”.

On that note, I looked up a few of the new systems in the YAML and they do appear to have sov split between the empire factionIDs. All the ones I looked at are currently 1.0 sec. Doesn’t really mean any of that is representative of its final state.

I don’t want to speculate tooooo much, but a few things that occur to me:

-They previously mentioned that there’s going to be an expansion of warfare/faction war.
-Bunch of edits/renamings of faction war NPCs in the update, as well. Some FW mission stuff that doesn’t look familiar to me, either.
-The new region seems to basically be a little 4-empire-microcosm

IDK, seems like a lot of things that could potentially be used to gently introduce PvP content to the NPE.

I wonder how they’re expecting that to work without one of the newbie FW groups dominating the others. ”Sorry, you didn’t roll Caldari or Minmatar, you don’t get to leave the NPE”. How would ship loss be treated? If the ships are just handed out I could see players deliberately staying around for the condensed locale and quick reship, and if the ships are meant to be earned through missions or mining, newbies are just going to straight up quit after their first loss.

First of all, we don’t even know that they’re expecting that to work; that is my own speculation.

The rest of this is mostly made-up problems (hoW wIlL thEy kEeP oNe nEWbIE gRoUP fROm DOmiNAtIng is patently ridiculous if you think about it for even a little while).

It’s a tutorial, not a hostage situation. If you don’t want to be in it anymore you’d just leave. There obviously isn’t going to be a compulsory tutorial area in a game where people roll new alts more often than they change their underwear.

How do you handle ship loss? How do we already handle ship loss? If they can’t handle “When you lose your ship, it’s lost” in an NPE environment where everything they’re playing with is T1 Meta 0 and basically free, how are they meant to handle it in the real game? It is not that hard to mine and manufacture T1 frigates. A NoobFW LP store could also be an option. It’s just Eve, but smaller.

Stop infantilizing new players.
