Introducing Exordium!

will the sec.status changes effect abyss filaments?

we can use them now everywhere in hi sec except in exordium?

are homfronts in exordium easier to access if the rewards are lower? meaning more affordable fits, less dps required and so on?

by history asteroid belts in 1.0 systems were already not very rewarding regarding size and types, was it rly necessary to introduce a new lower tier of ore?

wont older industry players just mess up indi for newbros if they r allowed to visit? instead of nurturing a new generation of indy players wouldnt that just scare them off?

erm gate seems to be closed at moment.

I guess the high special taxes in there will make it unlucrative to build anything for sale. Funnily, this will also sour the interest of newbies into those activities. Which might be part of the plan as CCP desperately wants to sell ships for cash, not for time mined.

agreed, well let s see how this plays out…

gerard also brought up an interesting point about travel mechanics regarding shipcasters that screams abuse me if it works like that.

yeah, nice quick route to Jita, if you can get in the Yulai gate without dying.

If they limit the ship types which can use the Shipcasters then this would prevent Rookieville being used as a hauling shortcut.

This. Freighters and Orcas should definitely be blocked from using the Shipcasters. Or even the Yulai Gate to Exordium…

However it can still be used as a hefty fleet shortcut, imho only T1 frigates should be allowed to use that region at all…

I fully expect CCP to turn Yulai into a 1.0 as well if too many newbs are being hunted at the Mindboggling gate. :joy:

Just some thoughts and questions:

I like the changes but as previously said, Yulai (edit: and the Shipcaster pop-outs) appears like it will just became ganker central as it will be a dangerous new bottleneck for all newbies. So rather than distributed ganking you’re potentially localising and concentrating the ganking pain. This may conversely mean more new players being ganked after trying to move ‘all their stuff’ out of the starter zone for the first time and then losing ‘everything’ - which leads to a lot of quitting.

I would also like more info on Taxes - everyone hates taxes and putting higher taxes on a starter area seems again conversely effective. You want to encourage trade (by new players), activity and have less penalty for making say a big market mistake. The game should allow newbies to enjoy all their hard earned (but lower) bounties etc rather than having more of them vanishing in NPC corp taxes.

Obviously I realise you dont want this to be bounty farming bot haven or some gank free, zero tax replacement for Jita either - so how will your taxes or other mechanics work to prevent this?

You need to have a clear plan which players can’t circumvent to avoid both of these eventualities in place before opening the region.

Cheers.

CCP Fozzie : One other thing I’ll note because I realize it’s not mentioned in the blog: the shipcasters from this space can only be used once per character (they’re intended as one-time-use shortcuts) to limit power projection issues

Should stop it being a hauling shortcut

Why not Uedama? Uedama should have a gate to that space…! Also why permanently “green”…? This is sick… like walking on a street where everyone is packed into a suitcase to prevent any activity… disappointed…

Noble and honorable Capsuleers, Knights, and all others…

This “Exordium” raises critical questions regarding sovereignty. When security (1.0) becomes a resource to be redistributed, we require a currency more stable than mere trust.

I hope that this is only for new players… and they will be able only to leave that space… and no one to enter… then make sense .. otherwise can be used by old players for their needs

Well, maybe Fozzie should add this EXTREMELY IMPORTANT bit to the dev blog.

What is CCP’s plan when all of the asteroid belts will inevitably see endless amounts of AFK Orcas mining all the grade 0 Veldspar all day with zero risk?

And how does CCP plan to do the ISK payout for bounties there?

The payout may be low, but when people can kill rats at high rate using purple modules in AT ships this may impact the new player experience when all their rats (and asteroids) are stolen by minmaxing veterans in expensive equipment who no longer face any risk.

Or will there be strict limits on the types of ships and goods that can enter through the gate in Yulai?

They forgot to add it

On career agents being removed

No, because we don’t want to disrupt the flow for players who started right before the expansion, and we also want the ability to potentially use the old flow for some tests to confirm whether this new space helps retention or not

In this expansion there’ll just be some tweaks and bug fixes for the career agent missions, not a bigger rework of them

If the content and especially missions are fun in Exordium, it might boost online numbers over 50k.

On Yulai possibly being hellcamped

That behavior there will be interesting to observe. Ganking of newbies is already super rare, which has led us to not want to pre-emptively do anything specific for Yulai. However if camping that gate and killing newbies for instance starts to become a problem then we have some options in mind for ways we could constrain that activity. We’ll see if that becomes needed or not.
