Introducing Exordium!

lalaland is the way to keep eve too easy and boring for them. even parents don’t always keep an eye on their kids.

Oh no we won’t be able to grief rookies into quitting the game anymore…

I know right?

disgusting!!

Read more closely, there are 4 additional one–way exit points. One into each faction space

Will this solve the " Blame it all to suicide gankers" propaganda?

Yeah. Trust the vets. :eyes: :poop:

So many whiny bittervets in this thread with terrible arguments.

Explaining exordium to new players isn’t going to be some impossible task. Every game I’ve ever played has a safe newbie area or a PvE only area.

Vets aren’t going to abuse the newbie space to mine grade-0 veldspar and farm 4 million isk per day. That would be stupid and a waste of time

Exordium offers the potential for a way better newbie experience long-term that can be expanded upon with new tutorial mechanics INCLUDING a pvp zone, pvp anomaly, or inner pvp practice system.

Newbies having a safe space for 30 days isn’t going to ruin pvp forever. They come out of exordium eventually. Probably in a few days for most. They’ll probably be eager to try pvp once they have a handle of the basics. Especially if exordium adds a pvp sample area.

Hauling a t1 hauler through yulai then exordium then out a ship caster and then to a trade hub is going to take ages. Barely anyone will do it especially since you can get ganked in yulai and after the ship caster and you doubled the distance travelled and time taken and you are limited to a slow, low-tank t1 hauler.

Yes alpha players and rookies deserve some handholding. We want them to exist and convert to Omega.

Yes vets could mislead or lie to rookies, but they can already do that? Exordium doesn’t change this.

I think that covers every bad unbacked argument I saw with my equally -evidenced retort.

Most Newbies won’t grind. They will exhaust moms credit card to accelerate thier gameplays. Exordium is about newbie’s spending.

But well, for me this is a great additional content. A system where we can just float in space peacefully. A Resting Place.

Hopefully medium sized mining ships are banned in this systems. Mining parasites are eyesores.

See this is where I disagree, I would have a lot worse NPE if I hadn’t been able to easily find a level 4 mission running system within a few jumps of me. I might have persevered through the newbie area if I started playing in the future, but it was the ability to interact with players of all levels of skill and experience, including the chance to get ganked, which was what attracted me to the game, so I think there’s a fair chance that I would have quit before escaping the silo.

There’s hundreds of single player, co-op and limited PvP games out there, there are very few PvP anywhere and everywhere games.

This is EvE losing it’s USP, although it started with the Abyss.

You can just ship caster out to do that still. It isn’t like it’s illegal to leave the newbie area

Back in the days EVE was losing me right up to the point where I wandered into an Amamake gatecamp in my mining osprey. Exodium is a massive mistake.

But remember to explain only with words and speeches…never ever activate a mining laser by yourself or shoot at an NPC…if any isk or other item would get into your possesion in Exordium, your account would be at risk…

So no fleeting up with anybody and going into action and such things…otherwise the banhammer will strike on all your accounts…

I have no plans to explore Exordium with my 2 accounts. There is nothing there for me. Since I am well beyond 30 days, the risk to any of us “veterans” is too great. It might sound strange to the real vets of this game, I am a few years in this game and I still have not 100% the career schools. Maybe I play too casual? I have no plans to make a new account to play in Exordium. I plan to work those this year before they deem them obsolete later on. Otherwise I plan to ignore this upgrade until it affects me.

Knowing this is going to allow traffic both ways and not one way, I am curious about the following;
Are vets going to trade big guns and ships in there to the new people? This would allow them to exit the camped gates in reasonable safety. I know they said, No Camping in Yulai, but it has 3 connecting systems. Will Yulai become a new trade hub for Genesis?

I don’t see how the new system will assist new player experience. I thought the idea here was open PvP, with certain people who help you along the way. Care bears who gift new players and real corporations, assisting the new players are going to be difficult to manage with this centralized entry point. Also what makes anyone think the new solo player won’t rage quit the game after they leave and find the “Real Eve” too difficult for them?

Have fun!

they didn’t say that. They said there could be bans for FARMING the content. I imagine this means things like repetitive multiboxing of the content, abusing exploits or balancing to gain unintended rewards, and so on.

There is zero chance they are saying you can’t fly around with a venture or even a pioneer to explore the area, mine a few rookie roids, help out newbies, or use a logi frigate or regular frigate to help a newbie on some missions for minimal rewards.

You imagine a scenario that doesn’t exist. You’re not going to get banned for entering a system. If that was there intent, you’d be hard locked out in the first place.

You MIGHT get banned if you fly in with a multiboxed fleet of catalysts to annoy newbies by finishing their anomalies before they can finish them, or a multiboxed fleet of pioneers to somehow farm some weird career mission edge case, or a multiboxed set of input broadcasted ventures that are strip mining the asteroid belts.

Even then you could probably appeal and get unbanned for 2 of those 3 cases.

Nowhere has anything been said that you’d get banned for: going in to chat with, talk to, recruit, trade with, or help newbies. Nor has anyone ever implied you’d get banned for finishing off your career agents, fleeting up with some rookies to help them with a mission, doing some exploration, checking out the anomalies, doing some light mining.

Good for you, but you don’t speak for every rookie, so there is no reason for me to think your opinion dictates that exodium is a mistake. Most newbies losing their shiny ship they grinded for probably do not enjoy it.

Not to mention most people in ospreys aren’t rookies any more and cruisers may not allowed in exodium in the first place.

And lastly, as stated, there is no reason to think exodium will never have a PVP component such as a mini thunderdome or PVP mission/ PVPanomaly or similar.

Lastly, rookies can still wander out of their safe area if they want to, via 5 different exits.

Just google the definition of FARMING in MMORPG context or games in general:

“Farming in MMORPGs is the act of repeatedly performing specific tasks—such as killing monsters, harvesting nodes, or completing quests—to accumulate in-game currency, rare items, or crafting materials. Unlike grinding, which focuses on earning XP for levels, farming is targeted at gathering resources or acquiring gear.”

Activating a mining laser on a roid for testing purposes is already farming.

We’re all got the same option in the store and spending money to save time is not an issue but considering Orcas as an eyesore is probably opposite opinion.

Why so mean?

CCP is not going to ban people for activating a mining laser in the rookie area.

@CCP_Fozzie most likely meant “farming” as taking advantage of the area to an unusual degree, not activating your mining laser once. Of course, only Fozzie can clarify what Fozzie meant, but you shouldn’t assume absurd intent without evidence to support it. The simpler, more charitable, more plausible explanation is usually the answer.

This. I mean again Kshal and eve rookies can be active there. What does @Power_Armor expect? Fleets with vets but vets not willing or unable to help? I dont see that as being bannable.

You going in on your own and mining or killing stuff (not counting career agents) I would imagine thats what hes referring to
