Introducing Exordium!

Dont waste your time with Barney. Hes going to continue to banter this nonsense about all of us going there and FARMING all that valuable ore. I mean i dont even have a clue where he got the idea that i was going there to mine…he made that part up.

We are going to be so rich…its beyond our wildest dreams.

turns sarcasm off

Did it ever occur to you that “things” might happen in EVE? As in mean things? Just one quick scenario: What if people band together to invite a vet to teach them and then start a mining ops, but then leave the fleet again and the vet just stays in the belt or isn’t fast enough in docking up - and voila: mining on his own in Exordium. Same with a mission. Mission is started and the rookies bail out or something. And then someone jumps in with screenshots and other things and reports me.

Rules need to be clarified to the point before i would want to engage in anything that could get me banned because i did something that i thought wasn’t deemed illegal and people tricked me into a situation.

EULA on griefing was always pretty vague, so I doubt that is going to change, nor I think that it should change. All incedents are judged case by case basis and people don’t get banned for making a mistake… Defining rules in a very detailed manner, like making an explicit rule for every scenario such as yours, would be counter productive, since then players could start playing around with these specific rules. “Well, actually the rule says x, so technically…” I assume that is partially the reason why rules on griefing are vague and most likely will remain as such.

Honestly, I think letting vets bring in any ship is an awesome opportunity. If an org or two could organize it, imagine one of every ship in the game lined up side by side for newbies to gawk over and dream of. To see every ship in its natural habitat in all its glory, not just in a preview window where you can’t tell size or scope. Including limited time ships and ships noone would ever undock under any other circumstance. An Exordium Car Show, so to speak.

Only if they make a live event out of it and suddenly set everyone suspect.

And this is why people leave EvE before even bothering.

I didn’t mean the newbies just watching the AT ships and assorted valuables ofc. Just set everyone older than 30 days suspect so it becomes a free for all with dead AT bling.

“But the AT collectors will quit too”

Good, they should. EVE should not have safe spaces and ■■■■ anyone who claims otherwise.

We all know those whales won’t quit for real anyway.

Wtf is wrong with you

Don’t discriminate against the neurodivergent, thanks.

For once even I agree with you that Anna is crazy and perfect at the same time!

I’m actually starting to like her more than Princess, only thing now is to see her in action in that new exorcism zone .

I’m just wishing that this No Gank Zones will be free from PVE exploits. PVP/PVE at your own risks should always be part of New Eden ecosystem.

For a new pilot such as myself here in New Eden a diamond rat has been far more dangerous than any ganker.

Just like they will be n the new zone.

/very first barge loss

Diamond rats are great teachers!
The only way to teach is to scare them.

love those wierd entities.

Jealousy and bad manners are not classified as a disability and are not included in the definition of neurodivergence.

Cluster B can qualify for disability benefits.

But does it stop people from “grinding” there. Is another question.

We had a similiar problem with Frontier…where depending on how you started in the starting system, it could make our break your beginning in frontier…in earlier builds. I have a concern that CCP didn’t learn the upside/downside counterpoints of that particular playtest. Because I can see where spending some time in Exordium can end up with some very “baked” capsuleer characters.

Another question as well, if CCP is gong to do this. What is stopping people from gaming this region as a protected location for character bazaar sales too?

There needs to be alot of deterance even with GM power to this region. Because I can see someone getting a GM or CCP to shift their stuff to this region and being nearly impossible to deal with.

I think alot of people also haven’t factored in, that Exordium can be used by player groups to poison the well. IE either by influence, or politics. You don’t need to gank to then ruin someones starting experience. I think all the hypernet/referral code/ recruitment spam needs to not show up there. The poisoning the well issue can also give false impressions of EVE…which can be a nasty shock when players leave Exordium (if they do) - this also relates to Yulai potentially becoming highly dangerous…then getting 1.0 treatment. (Just like what happened to Hek…but then ignoring the whole path to Hek and those systems security pertaining to the SOCT Epic Arc.)

The other question as well, is CCP going to limit what skills can be trained up there. Because I can see people using Exordium as the “Training Hub” where groups can end up with more skillpoint heavy characters in safety…then they come out as a full corporation/alliance into the game as a bloc batch. I think that as well, needs to be discussed in depth.

You can also have “Influence Infection” IE a player/streamer gets into Exordium and then “teaches” or “influences” all the wrong way or ideas. Or propagandizes against certain alliances while being fairly untouchable in that region. And this is another problem too…Those influencer/players in Exordium can potentially due to changes with PLEX marketing, probably market affect the game in ways unintended too. (Which might need some rethinking on this as well.)

Because I see large number of potential problems beginning in Exordium and dominoe effects rippling outward.

The current 12 schools, probably need updates instead of Exordium. The other interesting issue is that if everyone can start from the same 0 (Exordium) why do we need the start screen choice?

You could end up…with a bloodlineless start. And as your go around Exordium you end up chosing a faction, and then jumping out. (Not sure if that will make alot of people happy…could complicate alt making)

That is another question…does Exordium simplify or complicate alt creation? Or is it required for certain training bonuses for the AIR Program…which then creates “lock out” scenario which can retroactively penalize older capsuleers from collectible content for their characters. This is another interesting question mark in my perspective.

IE “the Poisoning the Well” one need only to whisper the horrors and dangers beyond Exordium and the evils of what happens in the wider EVE universe.

Do that enough…and many players will usually quit…or they will consider EVE due to the Exordium ecosystem to be a grind maxxing MMO. (Even more than it is.)

Personally from my own IRL experience, alot of people do not join EVE due to the stories of scamming, flamewars, doxxing, and the consistent perception that EVE is a “spreadsheet game.” So we kind of already have a problem of the games entry…even before downloading is a “Poisoned Well” for most potential new players.

Personally that is more of an issue of CCP Security/Diplomacy enforcement. (EULA etc.) But at the same time if you change too many things, the soul of EVE Online would change a bit more than what most would like it too.

I mean really EVE is kind of now like a young adult growing up…and just getting into college/out into the workforce. And realizing its “bad boy image” isn’t going to land it a job. [IE new customers = new players] And having to dress up nicer for its job interviews. Still has a foul mouth and reacts certain ways, but in time it should “mellow out” and “settle down.” Much like most of the digital frontier which eventually gets “domesticated” but alot of EVEs old guard players are still very much the digital “Wild West” bandits and outlaws.

Exordium is basically the actual settlers from the domesticated areas of the internet finally, coming in and settling the Digital West. Do we have to like it…no. Personally I have gone through now three different starts, and I would like CCP to settle on some sort of consistency while still keeping the flavor of its game. I personally do not think Exordium is the way to do this. Because it will create several problems that will completely change the fabric of EVE in ways probably most of us will not see yet. One in particular is going to be the “homogenity of thought” between capsuleers, especially new players. Instead of unique tales of discovery and exploration before joining the wider population.

Man, 2020 to today…how much change…not all of it for the better. Now even starting is going to be a difference between players.

Ironically now alot of players between those time frames are considered old guards now.

This is a concern on several levels. Because weaponization of rules or exemptions is done alot in EVE.

People can do things like oh…“duel” someone in a starter system and claim they were griefed. But I don’t think CCP is going to disable that option…but even then I would rather have it disabled up there…because of the rife abuse of it to get kills in Exordium on the zKill.

Your points are valid on the rules not being clear enough, and how people can do all kinds of sheenigans and then frame up veteran and non-veteran players/characters as violating some sort of rule in Exordium and getting them banned or warned for things that normally are not problematic/hum drum day to day EVE elsewhere.

We need clarification of rules, because weaponization of reporting has landed streamers and players in bans, even when they are not doing anything with multiboxing or any other semi-controversial stuff.

The Frigate space. I already figured out how to exist there. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well or Corvette only…that would be a funny moment for most.
