Introducing Exordium!

@Honzas_Krutas
The early opening and how it would work was widely announced in the news…it only came a few days late.

So another message you missed.

Sometime before Fanfest, the new region will open for visits. At that point, players will be able to enter, explore the new space, and check out the new security tier, but the content will not be in there yet.
With the expansion release, the remaining content will be added to Exordium, and we will begin sending all new players there. Any capsuleers who have entered EVE before the expansion will continue their new player journey using the existing systems spread around highsec.

Just messing around in the Caldari section of Exordium on an Alpha toon. In just one system there are two state-sponsored ore anomalies. Each anomaly contains 62 asteroids, and 1 million m3 of Veldspar-0 each. So a total of 124 asteroids and 2 million m3 Veldspar. Station refining is base 40%, and a 5,000 m3 Venture load of this Veldspar refined to 43,600 Tritanium, which the current market value of is around 170,000 ISK. 2 million m3 is 400 Venture loads of Veldspar. That comes out to 17,440,000 Tritanium @ 3.73 ISK = 65 million ISK. And that’s just in one system. There are also NPC mining Retrievers, Ventures, Prospects and, oddly enough, NPC Porpoise that not only boosts the NPC’s but your ship as well by 5%.

Now, multiply that by 7 Caldari systems and that is 455 million ISK worth of Trit. And if the same holds true for the 7 Amarr, 7 Gallente, and 7 Minmatar systems, that comes out to 1.8 Billion ISK worth of Tritanium. Every single day…

This isn’t a number that matters because there is already a functionally infinite amount of veldspar “in the field” in Eve. The amount lying on the ground doesn’t matter, and never has - someone has to go collect it, and they have to make a decision to do that instead of doing literally anything else with their time.

Divided by hundreds (thousands?) of miners every day, no? If you had 4 groups of 10x multi-boxers (one for each region), that’s $450m ISK per group (or $45m ISK per character).

If more than one group fights for resources you’re down to $22.5m ISK (and dropping).

I can make that in <10min in relative safety in high-sec…

That’s just Veldspar. I only messed around in there for about 30 minutes. There’s also supposed to be Scordite, and who knows what else. I didn’t check for static belts either.

Color me “unexcited” to mine in Exordium.

True, but now they can do it AFK in perfect safety 24/7…

Assuming of course that it remains at 50% yield…

Is “danger” currently a barrier to entry or participation for anyone who would otherwise be mining “premium” veldspar in normal highsec? In a venture, no less?

I don’t think it is, personally, and in that case, every venture-hour spent mining Veld-0 instead of Veld is contributing half of the trit that they would be otherwise.

You know how EVE works. It doesn’t matter what it’s worth, if there is no danger, there will be VM users on 50 Alpha accounts and botters mining this sh*t 24/7…

But why aren’t they just taking their ventures and mining the infinitely-available normal veldspar for double the payout and without the visibility of being in the brand new noob island?

They do that as well. I’ve seen an Orca boosting something like 30 Ventures all with the same name.

While everyone is distracted with the latest shiny new thing, they may in fact do just that…

Okay, so do you think that guy is going to say, “Nevermind my orca boosts, I can go do this on half-trit veld-0 instead!”

This entire concern basically requires that opportunity cost doesn’t exist.

That has to be the ultimate in tedium (unless it’s a botting fleet). I find multiboxing an Orca and a pair of barges annoying as f*ck…

The average EVE player doesn’t give two shits about opportunity cost, especially new players. That’s for min/maxers and no lifers…
