Introducing Exordium!

One of the “assorted undesirables” are people who use the term “carebear”, especially when in negative connotation. CCP has a business to run and, whether you like it or not, those “carebears” are equally valuable as customers as you or me are. What CCP is doing with the new region is adding an environment for that part of the customer base while balancing the effects of that environment on the rest of the game. My opinion is that they got the idea right and we’ll see the details when the implementation is done.

You’re right, ganking already isn’t a problem because they’ve nerfed it to the ground time and time again. Carebears don’t care. They can watch an eight year old character who sat AFK in an untanked mackinaw for three hours get ganked, and then go cry on the forum about how awful gankers are.

hahaha, you don’t even know what you are blabbing about..

The vast majority of ganking targets economically valuable ships, ganking of newbies is actually very rare. However if behavior changes after this expansion and the chokepoint in Yulai becomes an issue we have ideas of how we can adjust things as needed.

Is because it was intended from the start.

That’s actually a good idea… Making the Exordium Region +2.0 Security level actually reduces the amount of work needing to implement this New Player Starter Region..

New player 9 months. Have a Main and 2 Alts. Based on this info, I will not be creating any new characters. Because of my Main Faction, I want to be able to control Faction and location of any new characters I create. This seems to leave it to chance so new characters could be created as enemies of my Main in Factional Warfare. While getting started is not easy, this is OVERKILL. Controlling Ganking in HIGHSEC better would be better alternative. Currently Gankers are old timers who like to be bullies and it is allowed. CONCORD for the most part is useless to individual players. more experienced Miners with alts in HIGHSEC have learned how to attract CONCORD ships to discourage ganking, but it is not perfect. Also higher taxes and limited wealth building just slows down a player’s development and enjoyment of the game.

Nothing about Exordium makes it harder for players who want to go to lowsec to get to lowsec, in fact we’re giving them a shortcut shipcaster right to a system adjacent to lowsec. Every player’s experience is different and the people we’d expect to benefit from the pvp block in Exordium are the folks who get stressed by having read about how dangerous EVE is and the fact that they can be attacked while they’re still learning the basics.

We’re also hoping that being closer to other new players will help encouage new folks to socialize with other new players and help existing corps recruit, since we know that playing with others is a huge part of what makes EVE fun for many players and helps folks stick around.

There’s definitely a danger that some players will stay too long and get bored, but we’re aiming to help minimize that risk with improved UI communication to help them get the confidence to move on to the rest of the game with more content and better rewards

When you create a new character you choose the faction you want.

It’s not left to chance, you decide at the new character screen, just pick the same faction as the ones you already have.

It really looks like they thought all of this through. I now have high hopes on the quality of the implementation.

Everyone that wants to recruit new players will find recruiting in Exordium useful, since it’s where all new players will pass through, no matter where they plan to go next.

I agree that FW is a great place for some new folks and we want to make it even better. We’ll definitely be discussing ideas in that direction more over the near future.

People who fly poor fits and make it easier for the gankers is the problem.

Learn to fit your ships properly people.

Question. Just how long does a new pilot/player get to stay in these “safe” systems? How do you intend to help transition these poor new players into the game? Otherwise all that has been accomplished is setting these players ships to get blown up and podded.

Since Anna wants FW inside Exordium
here’s what Fozzie had to say

also @Meridan_Night
this is for you too
People won’t be able to engage in FW gameplay directly from within Exordium if that’s what you’re asking, but we’ve planned from the beginning for the new space to make the path to FW clearer for interested folks. As one example that I’m allowed to talk about now: the shipcaster shortcuts from the empire constellations lead directly to the FW HQ HS systems (adjacent to the warzones)

tagging @Gerard_Amatin too

if you seen above, fozzie mentioned that.. they can leave on day one. and the UI they are improving for that will help them transition to the rest of new eden, the shipcasters go to FW hq systems.

Fozzie
Incursions can’t spawn in Exordium if that’s what you’re asking. if you’re asking about highsec then yes.
I played EVE for 6 years before I started working here, I’ve done my fair share of crying about features before they release so I get it

on explaining loading ammo
Yeah that’s a good point. We have some ideas to help make ammo easier to understand, but they won’t be releasing in this expansion quite yet. We’ll hopefulyl be talking about them at Fanfest to get feedback

me*so it seems even though exordium is going to 1.0 and others are changing accordingly, the timers are not changing for concord

fozzie on why CONCORD timer isn’t changing
We considered extending the scale, but ended up deciding that since the existing scale runs from 1 to -1, it would be most understandable to stay within that range. And changing 1.0 systems to 0.9 isn’t much disruption overall
