My guess is that due to summer it’s barely noticeable above the background radiation. Not that I suspect anything will change in the fall or winter, either.
It should have the same or better numbers than I saw in the old school systems right? I remember Conoban and Pasha having better than that in dock and in space. I am basing on what I saw before and this is low numbers. I figure the kills, in either place, is still the idiots blowing the alts up as they emerge from dock, to boost their PvP numbers.
Exactly. Another thing that comes to mind, how many are staying in there and how many are leaving the region on day one? If no one stays in there, I assume those are vets grinding out new characters and don’t need to school them. If none stay for 20 to 30 days, it defeats the reason it was built.
I don’t think I will be around to find out, but I was just curious. I wanted to know if anyone could prove it was a rousing success or not.
How busy did you expect it to get?
I never expected any huge population rushes to pour into this zone. I dont think that rush will ever occur. Exordium is only a new part of the game that newly made characters are born, thats it.
It was never designed to lure the masses. Even FC knew that would never happen.
they think because its not like the old starter systems, we aren’t attracting new players
It should likely have less numbers than the old systems, if those old systems were as you say mostly crowded for being used to boost PvP numbers by veterans.
In Exordium there is no PvP, so those veterans will have found different systems to kill their alts in.
Nor is ‘veterans killing alts for PvP’ the intention of Exordium, so measuring Exordium’s newbie activity by comparing player numbers to the old rookie systems where we had both newbie activivity and veteran activity of people killing their alts is not a good comparison, unless you could distill only the real newbie activity numbers from the old systems.
No PvP? So how do they complete the duels portion of the AIR program? I know the ones in the school zone alt killing, must be using the duel system otherwise their ships would be under attack from CONCORD in HS. I know was I seeing a praxis outside plunking ships coming out of dock, a literal graveyard of hulls before. I assume they moved operations to Exordium.
Like I said, I never been there, just wondering what the outcome of the new region might be. Apparently no data to prove anything better or worse than before.
I remember starting in Conoban on average days there was over 75 people in local chat. That means both docked and in space. There is one system in the upper right that shows 90 when you add them both together. I am betting that is Caldari space up there. Also I am seeing a lot of grey blocks too in the center. Looks dead in the center and all the activity is in the corners. I would expect some balance, you can’t just have systems with nothing to do. That feels like a house with empty rooms.
Another question, are they kicking these people after 30 days or just asking them to leave?
They can complete the AIR program after leaving the safe tutorial zone.
The systems look very active to me, what is your point of reference? In average numbers?
The 24hour ships destroyed are players embarking on “soldier of fortune” career agent missions, which are the ones, as far as I know, the only ones that naturally lead to ship destruction.
So on a very very rough pass over that info, that would be something like over 500 individual player ships going through those missions.
Nobody kicks you out of Exordium, is the job of corporations that recruit to entice and pull out new players to their corps and locations outside Exordium.
Doing what now?
Was this really a thing?
Nobody gets kicked. You can stay as long as you want…as long as youre not continuing to farm from the area. At that point, theres nothing for the new character to do, so leaving is the best option…but its always their choice.
@Gerard_Amatin
Have you created a new character in there? Because without dueling that seems to me like some high ship kills for NPC fights only. Back when I was a newbie, I didn’t lose ships until after the career missions, with the exception of “The Stand” and “Angel of Mercy”. It is a rough estimate from the image above, that is 600 ships in 24 hours or an average of 25 ships an hour. I have seen less in Uedama.
So both of you are telling me from your experience in Exordium there is no mining and no PvP. No wonder the place is so popular with the new players. I suppose I will just find out by sending one of my clones there and if see I have the option to duel or mine something. Maybe ask some questions in the local chat. I will get back to you on this…
@Lucy_Alfrir yes that was or is “a thing”. The double omega account player using the multiboxing ability kills alts to create a high kill score on PVP. Seems very foolish to me to but years ago when I was newbie, I asked why there was over 100 wrecks outside the school in Conoban. I was told the answer. All the wrecks were corvettes owned by the same player with a generic name. I did the sensable thing and salvaged them all for the scrap metal.
There is no pvp at all. However you may mine and do the missions there. Its still to this day a bit unclear on what the farming rules are. Before the zone was released, it was posted by Fozzie on how it would operate. Ill only assume that these rules are still very relevant and apply to this day.
I haven’t made a new character, I only did the newbie arcs on my main.
I was showered with T1 frigates, so I can imagine a number of the ship kills there are from people who do insurance fraud to turn the large supply of ships into easy ISK.
No PvP.
You can mine there.
What a boring concept. I went to Mazor and in a corvette I found the Duel option in the pilot menu, but choosing it results in this popup.
To recap, a new player ends up spawning in this region, after downloading a massive PVP game, to find they cannot PVP until they find the exit. Others end up mining and running career missions endlessly. My lord! what new players are so incapable of surviving against the NPCs in there?! What a strange concept. I knew it was meant to protect the new players from the vets, but they need protection from themselves.
This is ships lost in the last 24 hours today…
Those 8 hot spots are the career centers.
The point was, new players join thinking that pvp can happen anytime and could happen while they are still learning how to play (scanning, hacking etc) not knowing that the starter system they were free from being attacked for the most part.
Exordium takes that “paranoia” out, knowing that new players will have 30 days to now learn without having to fear they will get attacked while learning..
vets can go there, set up markets teach newbros and encourage them to leave before the 30 days are up.
There is a set of missions that requires a “death” of a ship.
But you also have the new Exordium Epic Arcs too…which have been notoriously unstable.
My confusion is…why did they connect Exordium to the FW “headquarters” instead to the School Systems.
Plus Exordium creates a less empire/faction centric loyalty…I means its a weird ongoing issue with some long term consequences that haven’t fully played out.
I don’t know if you’ve played the career agents but in one of the missions the agent gives you a ship with a module and it teaches you that ships are ammo/expendable. Actually, I think it might do it twice in two different missions.
Two missions. So you are telling me players are running those 2 mission more than 300 times per 24 hours? Nope. don’t buy it.
I think they plan to pitch the 12 school systems by this fall or winter, then keep it consolidated to one region. My question is, how many stay long enough to jump into FW? The throw away character I ran did the same lame tutorial we all know. Then you get sent to an AIR lab and continue to the school. I ended up in Mazor and it was all the same, nothing is different.
There never has been any “real conflict” between Amarr vs Minmatar or Caldari vs Galente. That is based on standings and lore, never has been enough. I recall how I thought when I was new, I should not travel out of Amarr space for fear of getting wasted by the authorities. Then I realized there is no point to any faction here.
I have played all the career agents long before I went to Exordium today and yes they are all the same, nothing has changed one iota.
In whole, Exordium is a great big nothing burger. FC created a big empty to shove 8 schools out of 12 into, then added some side missions. I was not there to play some story arc. The agents there don’t even have portraits, the place feels unfinished in so many ways. I felt like my Porsche got stripped. The NPC corp my clone was dumped in was extremely silent. With well over 300 members listed in chat, I asked how people are enjoying the game, and crickets chirped. After I got done seeing what I needed to see, I set the clone to biomass.
From my experience on a Saturday afternoon, I would be amazed, if the incoming population increases. In fact, I think this would have the polar opposite effect. If you are a vet, cook up a newbie and check it out for yourself.
They have not given any time frame
New way to make Exordium and SOCT Ships work: Limit the use of SOCT ships to Exordium/Safe Space. Outside Exord, SOCT ships should not be flyable, tradeable, contractable, undockable. You can move these ships however often you want to Exordium from anywhere.
This way, SOCT ships do not need a heavy nerf hammer, can be OP, and they do not impact the general game economy any longer. SOCT ships are designed as allround-newbie ships so that they can experience different ship classes without the big train. Newbies have their own region, so newbie ships like these should only be usable there.
