Introducing the HyperNet Relay

Local in Amarr will never die… but this hyperspam IS indeed affecting it negatively. It’s taken over Ashab local most of the time as well, much the same as people have reported with the Jita hyperspam spreading out into Perimeter and Urlen (and no doubt New Caldari and other Jita-adjacent systems).

i do not understand why people discuss this still, or even whiteknight ccps stance on this.
it is GAMBLING.
period

im not arguing the legal part of it. im about the ethics.

its just well hidden/covered by the purchase mechanics. ccp should be ashamed for pushing this crap forward. it is simply hypocritic. ban 3rd party raffles…introduce 1st party raffles, because so ccp can milk the cow effectively and no 3rd party sites do whatever, with the isk they got from the raffles ( most likely rmt, but who cares).

fact is, people buy plex, for real money, turn plex into isk and turn isk into these raffle thingies and then its rng if ur raffle wins or not…which is by definition gambling/lottery. so if someone with addiciton issues gets hooked by this raffle hypernet crap…he might invest a lot of real life money to buy a lot of plex, to turn it into isk, to buy those raffle thingies.

this is disgusting.

ccp simply shouldnt do this.

the fact they do it, is shameful.
and needs to be shamed.

edit: and the most funny part about this ■■■■ is…it probably is enforcing rmt behavior…or why u guys think thers this shitton of hypernet spam going on…this scam crap in jita local also does exist for rmt reasons mainly…im pretty sure. now they got 1 more possibility to scam the ■■■■ out of people for profit…im sure a lot of people already wrapping their heads around, how to use this hypernet thing for rmt

edit edit: nontheless, i decided to return to eve. i made the mistake of watching eve related youtube stuff, and in a vid about " is eve worth playing in 2019" i saw myself a couple of times, as i was in fleet with the guy who created that vid…it immediatly reactivated the urge to play… eve is like crack. once u hit the pipe…

I’ve been defending Eve and the devs for about a decade, but even i can’t agree with this “feature”. And from the looks of things absolutely nobody wants this in the game.

The only debate here is whether this is gambling or not. As long as ISK is tied to real world money, i consider this to be gambling and CCP is the facilitator of it (even though it’s the players that start the raffle)

Such a shame that the Resource Distribution update, which i consider to be very good, is overshadowed by this.

There’s nothing wrong with gambling.

I agree. I tried this HyperNet today, plunked down some ‘bets’ and won a couple items, and lost on most of them.

It felt exactly like the old Somer Blink. You could see the same people buying a majority of the ‘tickets’ on each item, nearly every time.

CCP shouldn’t have done this, because … just that. Yes, real money buys the plex, or the hypernet raffle things, or buys the isk that buys them. And they took down Somer Blink, and rightly so, but jeez, did they have to practically copy the operation?

After using the hypernet, I will say I enjoy selling on it rather then sifting through the scams in it.

“the HyperNet Relay aims to answer frequent requests for the return of raffle activities that were once hugely popular in the EVE community”

so what you are saying is that you will introduce gambling in a site minors use.

let me get my pop-corn and wait for your asses to get sued or the authorities be notified. hell, I might do it myself.

There’s tons wrong with gambling in a site that minors use.

here’s a thought: this site is used by minors.

gambling by minors in certain countries is illegal as is facilitating it.

I’ll wait and see who calls the cops first. Let me get my popcorn.

FYI, I’m generally against HyperNet…

Just saying “its bad for mental health” as Nana_Skalski did (where you quoted me from) is not a valid argument by itself.

Don’t cherry-pick…

Both.

The Hypernet Relay is a simulation of a raffle.

Eve Online is a simulation of people killing each other.

Hmmm.

This isn’t a kids game.

Exactly. Not kids.

So in your above reply you either referred to a minor as a kid or you just replied a statement that has nothing to do with the post you replied to and quoted.

Either way the term kid is not relevant. The term minor is relevant and applies.

PEGI 12

Video games that show violence of a slightly more graphic nature towards fantasy characters or non-realistic violence towards human-like characters would fall in this age category. Sexual innuendo or sexual posturing can be present, while any bad language in this category must be mild. Gambling as it is normally carried out in real life in casinos or gambling halls can also be present (e.g. card games that in real life would be played for money).

The term kid is relevant when that’s what I said.
