Is EVE University a good place for a casual returning player?

My characters date back to early 2007 with heavy activity between then and 2012 then I had spots of activity between 2012 and 2020 with my most active stint between these being 2014-2015.

The issue I have is that everything is gone, I mean everything. Everyone I used to play with has left, corp is dead and old HQ in the WH is looooonnnnggg gone. I’ve made posts in the past about returning and where to go but I end up playing mostly solo and then leaving again because well, it’s lonely, especially when you are reminded of the “old days” if you just do the same thing you did back then haha.

So my question to the good folk here, is EVE University a good place to go if:

  1. I play casually, I’ll never be an everyday 4-5 hours per day player ever again. I’m into my mid 30s now and have actual real life stuff to do so I may disappear for days, or even a week or 2 at a time
  2. I’ve never been big with PVE and prefer PVP but I’m impartial to the odd bit of PVE with good people for just chillin’ but I have little to no interest in doing this in highsec
  3. I want a network of people to play with and services to access, a good example is freight services so I can move large amounts of ships and parts to hotspots/near hotspots so I can run small gangs
  4. Schedules events/things to do, with my real life schedule having a time and place to be is a bit easier to manage

My issue with personal retention is because I don’t have anyone in game to play with, it’s as simple as that.

Some things I really want to do:

  1. First I need to brush up on whats what, lots of new things/ships have been added since I last played
  2. I want to help new players and with the new player zone coming soon I want to be part of helping with player retention
  3. Be part of a community again, it really boils down to this

Any thoughts? I can’t really think of anywhere else to go, I’m not really a “station gameplay” kinda person so branching into industry and that isn’t something I really want to do.

Extra Info

  • 90m SP with high spec into Frig/Destroyer size ships
  • Self sufficient, I don’t need isk or fleet fits
  • Majority of my characters life doing PVP, between 2007 and 2009 I most roamed null, 2009 onwards I was in WHs for almost 5 years. After that it’s lowsec/null stuff again
  • Never ran incursions, rarely ran WH sites, huffed gas a handful of times, done a little FW back when they broke it and made LP dogtags super profitable, highsec missions I done when I started and have never went back, refuse to mine
  • I’m not a dick, kinda used to be but I was practically a child when I first played EVE lol

Yes, for your expectations and requirements, it is.

EUni is a terrible place.

It is a scam organization and they will just lead you astray.

Also, you are too old for EUni.

Please elaborate as those are some bold claims. I’m also not in wanting to join EVE Uni to learn about the games core mechanics as that would be silly.

Well, since you are not wanting to learn about the game’s core mechanics, as that would be silly, you really don’t belong in a tutorial guild.

Maybe you should try joining an actual alliance?

That’s not what you said though, you said it was a scam organisation and that I would be led astray lol.

Why can’t I be in the uni and try to be a positive part of the new player experience? If everyone in the uni was a new player would that not defeat the purpose of its existence?

Again I would like if you elaborated on why it’s a scam? What could they possibly scam me for?

What alliances would you suggest I consider?

Oh, so you are a scammer.

I understand now.

I suggest you go touch some grass my friend because your level of enthusiasm for being a rather unpleasant person indicates you have not felt the touch of another person for quite some time. Best of luck with whatever you’re hoping to achieve with whatever kind of personality disorder you have

My therapist said I’m a very socialpathic person.

Well Eve Uni or rather any “no real requirements” corp will be suited to you. You are not investing in said corp and said corp would not be investing in you.

Now here is going to be a prob. Eve Uni like a lot of these other institutions(Eve Rookies) not so much on the PvP. I mean sure they might have some, but that is not what they are geared for. If PVP is somewhat a staple, your availability is going to put a big ole wrench into it. and likewise these institutions are mainly a PVEish sorta thing. Which is great in its own part.

Once again your availability is going to come into question. Since you state “I play casually, I’m into my mid 30s now and have actual real life stuff to do so I may disappear for days, or even a week or 2 at a time” most of the PvP corps with the requirements you look for, will pass you up, you can’t be counted on in a realistic sense.

Hope this helps

@Gibbo3771 Youre seeking lots of specifics so Eve uni wont do you any good.

I think you should pass this same post to the recruitment section so you can get more bites on a corp that will fit you better.

You should perhaps join one of @Aiko_Danuja 's corps. She has many. She’ll turn you into a fun loving, friendly, and eccentric pvper in a very short time…seriously.
