Is it me, or do high sec combat anomalies pay more than missions?

I dont know, i have this feeling that combat anomalies in high sec pay more than high sec security missions…

Combat Anomalies in high sec usually dont have a faction spawn or escalation, but when you do get one, sometimes you get a 100 mil or 200 mil module or implant that sells to buybacks such as JitaRun and EC Trade for 80 mil or 180 mil, or around that,

which is pretty good considering you get that money in 2-24 hours, instead of hauling to a trade hub to get killed with it and make nothing, or survive and wait for it to sell, which might never sell because of market traders and bots constantly undercutting you every 1 second.

And if you do high sec combat anoamlies in a tech 1 cruiser, instead of tech 1 frigate with tech 1 modules,
you might be able to do them faster, especially the weaker ones like hideaway and burrow, and get faction spawns and escalations faster, meaning more chances at a 100-200 mil module or implant.

Security missions, on the other hand, you can only do up to Level 3 security missions. Level 4 and 5 require paying real life money, or spending hundreds of millions of ISK on a omega membership that only lasts a month.

And the Level 3 security mission is full of cruisers and battlecruisers, so doing it in a tech 1 frigate is slow, and level 2 and 3 security missions dont pay enough to get a cruiser, unless you want to do them for days and days.

Cant use destroyers because destroyers are slow, fragile, and have the same tank as frigates, so you will die fast.

In a tech 1 frigate, you can either run Level 2 security missions, or maybe Level 3, and make a bit of money,

Or you can run combat anomalies in high sec, still getting bounty and npc drops, though less than Level 3, but also every once in a while get a 100 - 200 mil drop from either the faction spawn in the combat anomaly, or the escalation the combat anomaly gives.

===============================================================================

Though i do understand that 100 - 200 mil drop is really lucky. and faction spawns and escalations are a once in a while thing, not frequent.

Also doesnt help that some security missions are really small and fast, instead of being big ones with big isk pay and big LP pay and lots of enemies to kill and loot and maybe even salvage

You seem to have identified the cause already:

As Alpha player your gameplay is limited.

For others the same may not be true, but for you your mission income is limited by Alpha status while access to ratting for expensive drops is not limited as much by Alpha status.

It is no surprise this makes anomaly ratting an attractive alternative for you.

You could also consider paying for a subscription in this subscription-based game to get rid of the limits of the Alpha trial mode.

You could also train the skills necessary to increase the isk payouts in missions. It still wont be what you get from anomalies, but its better than what you get

The HS combat anomalies themselves without faction commander spawn are on par with Level 1 to 3 missions, an occasional commander spawn can potentially drop valuable modules (due to their rarity and high demand). However, what you should aim for is to get the escalations - DED rated combat sites and rewards deadspace modules (C-, B-, A-, X-Type) - the highest you’ll see in HS is B-Type Cruiser modules from 5/10 DEDs.

Hunting for DED sites can be quite time consuming if you do not have a proper fit for running the sites quickly - Auto-Targeting Missiles seems to be a favorite in the current meta.

When you reach the Level 4 mission threshold you may consider starting to Blitz them as the LP you gain can be quite lucrative (more so than the isk payout).

sometimes the faction spawns in combat anomalies drop good stuff too.

happened a few times where a faction spawn from a hideaway or refuge dropped something worth 100 mil or 200 mil.

whoever is buying deadspace and pirate faction stuff is kind of spending too much money on modules, unless they are flying some sort of titan, which then makes 200 million look like nothing in the face of 200 billion

Modules worth 200 million are not a bad choice if the hull itself already is over a billion, and for some activities where you just need to squeeze out a little extra performance to succeed these bling modules are well worth it!

I don’t often bling my ships, but some of my ships do make use of such modules.

If I had the money to buy and fit a Titan I wouldn’t look at modules worth a few hundred million, I’d look at those worth a billion.

It’s good to keep the price of your modules somewhat proportional to the cost of the entire ship. Don’t overspend, but underspending is not a good idea either if you lose a very expensive hull because of a surprisingly low tank.

Also if you put too much isk into equipment that is droppable if your ship explodes, then it will attract those certain people who may want to do just that: harvest equipment from your ship…

Bling ‘till you win!

If you’re too lazy to check your orders, it isn’t anybody else’s fault. Market works the way it’s supposed to.

I’m too lazy to check my sell orders.

So instead of being part of the problem and putting my order one ISK below the current best order, I check the difference between sell and buy orders, sell instant if the buy order seems readonable or if they’re far apart I sell at a price a fair bit below the current best sell price so I’m near guaranteed to sell it soon.

And then I can forget about the order. It’s rare for my orders to not sell.

I could teach you a couple of tricks with that if you want.

I wouldn’t mind some advice, too, if you’re offering.

I’ll message you in-game, Anna.

Thats exactly how i play the market as well. I tried some of the other methods that the more serious people that like to use and its just too tedious for me to keep up with. its not necessarily that i have better things to do, but just i have other things to do rather than spend that much time on the eve market.

I move goods where ever, sell items, buy some items, move on. I as well never have to wait long for items to sell. The ones that dont sit there until theres a right time to relist.
