Is it possible to set mining drones to deposit into other ships?

Pretty new but just wondered if it’s possible to set mining drones to deposit what they mine in another ship? Thought that might be a good way to passively contribute to a mining command ship without doing a direct payment/ore drop.

Nope.

They’re your drones, they go to your ship.

Drone AI is incredibly stupid, but there are lore reasons for that. Good drone AI goes Rogue in the lore.

EVE isn’t played passively. It will get you killed. EVE is great because of the opportunities to actively cooperate and contribute to a greater goal.

It is absolutely intentional that Mining Drones cannot fill anyone elses ship, else people would use countless brick-tanked “drone mining ships” to fill a brick-tanked Freighters cargo. And that mainly AFK.

Only drones that do damage can assist other ships

It wouldn’t even really be passive in the sense that you’d still be controlling them per asteroid. I mean I am actively cooperating with people but I understand things need to be limited because people will min-max it to all hell. Thanks for the reply.

Do you know how big an Ice Roid is in a Highsec Belt? A bunch of drones could mine for hours over hours there without any input at all.

Thank you for the calm conversation. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

Repair drones

Short answer, no.

While I haven’t bothered to mine in over 10 yrs, I like the idea that my small fleet of mining ships could deposit their drone load directly into my Orca with their drones. Would it screw up markets if it were limited to omega only? I think I already know the answer but still wanted to ask.

That’s why the Orca has a fleet hangar and why the Orca has a tractor beam bonus.

The small fleet of mining ships can deposit their loads, drone and regular, directly into the Orca if next to it or via tractored cans if too far away. It makes the role of Orca a bit more fun and interactive as well.

Ah, yes. I remember now. I switched to PI in a wh, better profit with less risk/time invested. For me anyway.

I did have one player show up and take out a didgeridoo epithal! Came out nowhere so fast, I was dead before I could get a gf off! With so few hard core players anymore, I think that’s what I would go back to.
