I found out about the news yesterday during the stream. That I cried is the understatement of the year. Together with Carneros, Dorrim made Tuesdays something special for me. The chill stream was always a time of wonder and appreciation of the awesome creation we’ve shared and weaved together for the past 20 years. Whoever he was in real life, I can only hope he was as happy as he made us feel in-game every time we interacted with him. What an awesome legacy he left us, one that we will always remember with fondness, wonder, and joy. The Chill Stream always made me come back to EVE every year for Capsuleer Day. He always ended his streams with Permaband - Wrecking Machine, so I will always think about him when I listen to it. Thanks, Dorrim, for everything.

I have known Dorrim for over ten years. To me he was Bernie Nator, diplo extrordinaire. We talked baking, Star Trek, and space explosions. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him.

His family has set up a scholarship fund in his honor with the Culinary Institute of America and they asked me to let people know about it. If the fund reaches $100,000 it will become a permanent scholarship. If anyone feels moved, here’s the link.

I never did get his updated starcake recipe. I got sidetracked during his twitch stream. Only thing I was able to get nailed down was using puff pastry in a 5-point star shape, in 2 layers. The top part was 12-inches wide and the bottom was 11-ish. He mentioned using frangipane for the filling. I just wish I had asked him about cooking times and whatnot. Perhaps the old twitch vid can be re-uploaded. Or someone who knows how to bake w/puff pastry better than I, can figure out the temps and baking times. After all, such measurements are more important when baking, as opposed to cooking.

I will check with his girlfriend.

His girlfriend doesn’t have access to his recipes, so I am checking with his family.

I never knew he was a baker. So cool. Definitely interested in the recipes if they become available. He was one of the good guys. < sigh >

Many days or years he would had gotten up very early, kneading old school like, his wrists would had been quite strong and anyone who ever folded dough would understand.

A Baker would even be generous and offer the baker’s dozen.
