Japan in October

Been a long time since I use forums for Eve-Online… Anyhow! I am going on a first time trip to Japan. It had been about 3 years of planning, and it is only two months away!

I do have the trip planned out for the most part and still researching. First two weeks is being in Tokyo and check out surrounding areas from there with family and friends. Then after that, they go home along with my loot. Buut … I will be staying longer until first week of November, which I will be solo. My plan is going to multiple of cities and stay 1-2 days each with an objective location or a few to check out. For example, visiting a WWI era Battleship Misaka in Yokosuka, going to Hiroshima and Nagasaki memorial, visiting Kumamoto prefecture and take pictures of all One Piece statues, visiting all Persona 5 cities. I do have a list. My range area of travel is between Tokyo and as far down to Nagasaki.

What I would like to do is see for any Eve-Online players from Japan, hang out for a little while and maybe show me around the local area. If you got discord, you can reach me there (still the same name as my character).

Unrelated from Japan, but I will be heading Eve North East! https://www.evenortheast.com/ this September!

I heard that while travelling on a train there there’s no talking.

They have all sorts of such nonsense. I wouldn’t travel there unless you paid me. Too totalitarian.

They do have a fair working environment though!

In another life time I could see myself as visiting or even working in Japan.

Perhaps the fish markets or restaurants were they deal in seafood.

I had always liked seafood and Japan holds high quality when it comes to seafood selection.

Do they now?
Maybe this video might change your point of view.

I love seafood too but Japan doesn’t have the monopoly on quality.

// lets change this answer

Later in my career I had to oversee a company move production to Thailand and the work conditions were very bad.

They had workers sleeping at their machines because they were too afraid of losing that machine.

May you edit as. Had changed that reply as it would go into unwelcomed discussion

// will add that as far as I know Japan has history of maintaining safe working environments even though the various stories we see in YouTube

Working conditions are bad in three-quarters of the world and also sometimes in the “developed” countries as well because for corporations money will always be more important than people.

Lots of countries have a history of maintaining safe working environments and I’m not saying that Japan has bad working environments but abuses do take place that lead to accidents and deaths and Japan isn’t immune.

I enjoy baked Salmon though never tried Sushi Salmon

I have never eaten raw fish and don’t imagine I ever will. Baked salmon is awesome but then again, any sea creature will do, especially on a grill.

Before Covid 2019 was actually planning a trip to Japan

Then Covid happened and plans changed.

I wish @NeoShocker returns to this thread to fill us all in what preparations are in order to make the trip!

I hope he does but YouTube has lots of info on travel. I prefer to go ‘blind’ and discover everything for myself. Not only because I love adventure but also because I don’t have the patience to gather all the relevant info. I hop on a plane and off I go.

This was my thoughts also though I felt a need to at least learn some phases and how good it is now that I can recite a few basic questions in Japanese

I have never traveled to an Asian country but if I do, I too would learn a few important phrases like:
Where is the club?
Where is the hair salon?
Is there an Ici Paris XL store in this village?

Congratulations :ok_hand:

How long is my prison sentence?

 :smirk: :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

That is no talking on your phone, if you hold a normal conversation in a low tone of voice.
No one will say anything, as long as you are respectful of others sharing the space.

Still about! Was in Florida, came back two days ago! Fun trip. Anyhow…

Most important thing is I want to be is a respectful foreigner. Japan is awesome from what I seen on the internet, but you’d be in a huge and shocking awakening if you are not prepared or aware on how they are and act!

Japan went through a lot of terrible things from outsiders, especially from Youtubers and streamers. For example. in Kyoto, there are now areas that foreigners are banned from going because of it. Japan has adopted new laws that will make things more expensive and/or harder for foreigners. Just things people that do not realize what is happening. Take this video for example. Well, enough of the negative stuff…

I did get a lot of information from YouTube. I’m even playing a game to learn some Hiragana and numbers. I am at the point that I can get by with some basic communication skills.

There are several that I follow on youtube for informaton. I tend to follow big and small youtubers Having multiple viewpoints is good.:

Lets ask Shogo

Only In Japan * Go
Toshi Guide from Japan

@Felix_Frostpacker The train part is true. Even on phone is rude. Silence is golden! Work is not great in Japan. In their culture, you are “expected” to stay on the single job for life.

@Naomie_Pennilez Yep, a ton of “nonsense”! I’ll be having an adventure for sure. First two weeks in Tokyo with family and friends. But after that… I am going blind with only limited essentials. Only thing awaits is places I want to go and see and eat. I’ll only have a backpack, 2 days worth of clothing, battery charger, phone, steam deck (still thinking of leaving it behind), and a small tent if needed.
