this is the EVE online forums not school
nerd

CCP needs to release a Mr Epeen counter so we know how many damn times he has posted that stupid sunglasses face. How many years now? The people deserve a tally.

Nobody has said that. PvP players don’t do industry because low-skill PvE players have devalued their own activities so thoroughly that there’s no point. It’s more profitable to gank the PvE players and take their stuff.

See, the problem is you think this is a bad thing. It’s a good thing, players who do not match the intended use of the game just complain and ask for things they can’t have. Eventually they leave in a huff and bad mouth the game when in fact it was their own fault:

Everyone knows EVE is a PvP game but PVE only players come anyway, not sure why. In any case it was their mistake and finding out EVE really is a PvP game the hard way is not the games fault.

I’m sensing some serious tribalist bias here.

I’ve seen the same players complaining about the same stuff for up to 15 years in some cases. But they’re still here. According to your narrative, they should have left long ago since they are are not suited to the game.

Maybe you could clarify your position. Without the partisan conspiracy crap.

Looks like you senses failed you.

If a bunch of people try out a game and leave in a huff it IS the game’s fault. Stop blaming others for your inability to expand on this concept.

You will only gain something out of the discourse if you’re capable of expanding your mind. Yes eve has pvp elements. Is it a pvp game only? You , apparently, and a ever diminishing crowd seem to think so.

As a nearly ten-year bitter PvE vet, one would say you may have something there. Back then the thought of instanced PvP would have created a ā– ā– ā– ā–  storm, but hey, here we are. Patience is definitely a virtue. One hopes ten years from now i’ll be able to rent a system straight from CCP and leave out the middle man xD

Even 10 years ago I liked the idea. But yeah many people hated the concept.

What about my open world!!!..

YOu mean the open world of N+1? See gate cap of 5…clear the camp or die trying. Maybe if really good and they are really bad you can win this. Or bring 9 more more friends to now have 10 to 5 in your favor.

So this setup was nice to see imo.

This is some extreme narrow thinking.

It really isn’t. Self-identified ā€œPvEā€ players add nothing to the game outside of being floating loot crates to prey on, and even then they’ll whine and cry and dock up permanently if they think there’s any meaningful chance of PvP happening.

This floating loot crate docks for no one, just want to make that abundantly clear. Being hunted and getting away with it brings a big fat smile to my face.

Not at all. We’re trying to run a pretty tight ship around here, and don’t need a bunch of incompetents who can’t deliver a gravy boat of lamb sauce without burning off their fingers and complaining about the heat in the kitchen. Purely-PvE players are the lowest common denominator demographic that forces CCP to bring the gameplay down to their level at the expense of everyone else. Without these players bitching and moaning about how difficult EVE is and how all the ā€œsociopathsā€ are making it impossible for them to grind ISK for eighteen hours a day, the game might actually start growing again from favorable word-of-mouth marketing from its remaining players.

Do us a favor, yeah?

Pretty much how eve posts go

I think it is important to highlight the difference between ā€œplayers who do PvEā€ and ā€œPvE playersā€. Many people do PvE activities while fully accepting that EVE is a PvP game and they will have to engage in PvP (even if only in the form of evading a PvP attacker) at some point. The issue here is the self-identified PvE players who think that because they have declared themselves to be PvE players they’re entitled to opt out of PvP and have CCP remove (or at least minimize) all potential PvP threats. And clearly you are not in that category.

I’d say that attitude comes from newbro’s who have worked their balls off to get the first ship usually mining get ganked and lose everything before they can walk, mission runners I interact with don’t have that mindset, and are quite happy to face the challenges Eve throws at them everyday. Going of on a tangent the biggest alliance is supposedly now in highsec supplanting Goonswarm a fun fact that was talked about on TIS. So high-sec pop is growing.

Uh oh. Merin is in the house.

Anyone want to get in on the post pool? I say 27 Merin posts in the next 36 minutes.

In my experience, and certainly on the forums, it’s the exact opposite. Newbies only fly cheap stuff and aren’t starting from the assumption that they have the ability to opt out of PvP. Yeah, some will quit over their first loss but they tend to quit silently and not stay in the game lobbying for more safety. The loudest anti-PvP voices are either:

  1. Veteran players who have figured out optimized farming systems, calculated the theoretical maximum ISK per hour they can make, and decided that because they can beat the NPCs they’re entitled to do it for as many hours per day as they want without any interference.

or

  1. Veteran players who pack billions of ISK into a massively overkill farming or hauling ship, lose it in a stupid way, and then come to the forums to rage and demand nerfs to everything but their own stupidity.
