Launcher fails after first account on multi-account launch

For roughly a month now, I’ve been noticing an issue with the launcher when launching multiple accounts at once. I used to be able to just click on 4 or 5 accounts one after another and hit ‘Play now’, and they would all start loading.

Now, if I start another account before the first account launches, I get various “The launcher is updating” or “There is an error with a file” or similar messages. (Next time I trigger them I’ll try to save a more accurate copy and post back here.)

For a while this only happened when I fairly quickly launched several account by hand, but this week it’s also happened a couple times with launch groups (only the first one actually loads).

I can easily work around this simply by launching one account first and letting it load before doing more, but it’s a bit more annoying when it hits launch groups.

Just mentioning it to see if other people have noticed this, or maybe it’s just my setup.

Same here (I also get the “files missing/damaged”, but if I persist it launches just fine.

I can confirm this happens. On my end, I’ve noticed this for several months now. Just exactly how many months, I cannot say as I don’t generally track…annoyances.

There are various messages this situation results in, here’s today’s version.

Load EVE launcher, wait for installs, all good.
Click 3 accounts, Play, one after another.
Wait a bit, only the 3rd account actually loads.

First two accounts say: “An error occurred while starting game client for X on Tranquility”.
“An update is pending, and will be downloaded when all running game clients have been closed.”
Both accounts show ‘Check for game update’ button

Close the running account (which means no update was actually pending, since it’s running) and then the update bar triggers and says it’s downloading the usual 207 file mini-update. Then the first two accounts become available to play.

This particular version of the ‘launch multiple account fail’ issue isn’t the most frequent, but has happened several times before.

It seems to be happening for a lot of players. I’m also getting the “damaged files” error - despite doing a clean install (go figure).

Getting damaged files error as well. Eve seems to crash my wireless connection if I open more than one client. I have to wait a while for it to reset. Playing one client it worked for hours, then as soon as I started additional clients connection started crashing again.

I know it’s just my computer where connection crashes because my phone keeps working on my wireless connection which stays up for everything else.

The settings I use are “optimize for memory” which historically worked for multiple clients. When I pvp and run 1 client, I switch to “optimize for performance”.

Problem started today.

I picked up a new Mac M4 this weekend and it’s running flawlessly with a clean install (up to 3 clients). No errors during single or multi launch.

I’ve actually been assuming it’s been a problem with an update gone poorly (since not a lot of people are mentioning it) and in need of a reinstall. Clear cache, verify files etc. didn’t clear it.

So far though it’s not been enough of an issue for me to do a reinstall. Thanks for the update and enjoy your new Mac!

I believe you may be correct, as on my (old) installation everything was running fine until one of the recent updates - I only started getting the errors late last week.

You may need to do a full uninstall and clean install. If you opt for this route be sure to make a copy of your account profile(s) first. I don’t have the instructions handy but you can find them with a quick Google search.
