Launcher going black

bump. launcher still going black.

The launcher is built using Electron - a JavaScript frontend framework for desktop applications. This is not CCP’s fault, it’s Electron’s. Other Electron applications have the same issue (Discord, for example).

Until Electron releases a fix, there’s a very small chance that CCP can do anything.

CCP chose to this.

Yes, it is CCPs fault, the chose to start this, they choose every day to continue use this.

So they should do what, exactly? Switch to another framework or language? You do know that every software tool, including frameworks and languages, have their own issues from time to time? Switching the whole technology stack of an application that is experiencing issues with the current one means only one thing - you will encounter some other new issues some time in the future that are specific to that new technology stack.

Yes,
. sure
at some point if the issues are too severe, a company can choose to switch to another tech stack, but that comes at the cost of training developers to work with the new tools (or hiring new ones that already know how to work with it). Also, while the transition is being worked on, you have to have a feature freeze for the original app and stop (or slow down to a crawl) the development until the new platform is ready to go to production. This is done only in extreme cases when there are severe issues with the current technology. A screen going blank until the app is relaunched or app’s window maximized is not a critical issue. An annoyance? Oh yes. But not a critical issue.
