Launcher window is black and hangs?

So bizarre state of affairs - Try and login this morning and try and launch the game and the launcher is just black and non-responsive.

have uninstalled & reinstalled
done the 256 colors compatibility mode trick - not fixed
did the deleted cache folder trick - not fixed
video drivers are current
have searched all over as well as submitted a ticket, I’m just not really wanting to wait the 25 days to get my ticket resolved while paying for 5 omegas.

I’m lost at this point, any ideas?

Thanks for responding Philoketes. I somewhat got it working via a work around - total pain, but at least I can login!
