Level 4 Mining Mission Summary

that is the most time efficient way, the “best” way is doing any mission type that you don’t personally find boring, or paying someone else to grind for you if you find them all dull af

anything is boring when done enough, therefore at the end the most efficient is the best.

Yet another interesting fact that puts the “value” of mining missions, in null in a bit of chaos.

1). You all know that High → Low → Null LP is approx 1 → 1.5 ->2.

But that’s not always the case, especially with one mission in null that pays…

13K LP per mission

Not Gneiss at all pays about 7k. So this is double.

It’s one of the GAS missions. And only in curse. (I only saw it in Angel and Serp Agents in Curse). I know that NM-OEA (ORE) Does NOT pay the extra for it. No idea of the others.

The catch is… Serp and Angel pay a little less than Ore. About 65%. But you get double on this one mission.

And Serpentis has FOUR agents in the g-g system. You can decline and Cherry pick like crazy.

I find you can do three missions an hour. It goes to about 110ish million an hour. You can cash the LP close to Lowsec. Move the items in, cash at station and povchen jump home. If you donate the LP to your corp then another corpmate can cash them in. (Your alt I assume)

Or you can switch the corporation. You do 15 missions for corp you want and then because the storyline is in lowsec where you are afraid to go or just too far for your convenience (or idk what the reason is to not do it for the “right corp”) then you do 1 mission for different corporation and you get storyline mission for that corp instead.

Yeah. You have to keep count… And I can only count to 14…

Mining crystals with Modulated Strip Miner II don’t work in missions anymore.

I wonder if someone has a mining barge/exhumer fit for null-sec mining missions since the rats those can spawn are not funny. And it seems if i were to try and use a skiff i cannot fit all the ore in the hold which is just annoying

I’m flying this in high-sec currently, for null-sec I’d put in a flight of medium drones and tank it according to the regional rats, it should be fine. With Exhumers V this will fit any ore mission except Arisite Envy, which needs an Expanded Cargohold II in the lows. Replace the lows and highs for ice and gas accordingly.

So I just made it to lvl 4 Mining missions, damn they kind of suck, i got offeres from 3 different agents all all 3 of them required 44,800m3 my mac can only do 44,296. Is there anyway to get more Ore space so i dont have to make 2 runs?

Mac normal cargohold is 450, if you expand it with Modules or Rigs, should get you over 44,800… but is this sacrifice wiprth just tod skip on trip back?

Why is it that Miners have to sacrifice their fit? I’m sure a Mission runner would love to be told oh to do this combat mission your going to need to drop some of your low slots to fit cargo extenders.

I used to run combat missions a lot and never had to fit a cargo extender yet the majority of lvl 4 mining missions require a cargo extender so i can stuff like 41 ore to do it all in one go. Just more evidence that CCP hates miners

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I am new to mining missions.

The first question is what determines the type of rats that spawn for the missions? E.g if i was doing Serpentis mining missions can Angel Cartel rats spawn?

And the second question is: does killing these rats give you a hit to there factions standing?

Cause I want to raise standings with Serpentis and Angel Cartel and also wanted to get some clarity before I start.

Also this thread has been heaps helpful with tons of information already.

The region being mined determines the rats that will spawn. Since you are wanting to mine for Serpentis ( in Curse), the default regional rats are Angel rats. I’m sure it will behave the same way as in high sec, so a standing loss with Angels will occur.

Some of the missions spawn no rats whatsoever in high sec, but I’m unclear what their behavior will be in null. If you do run some Level 4 mining missions out in Curse, I’d love to hear your experiences with both the rats encountered and how much player aggro you get.

Thanks for the reply. I guess i wil have to avoid shooting at the rats to much or just do some level 2/3 Angel security missions to grind it back. I plan on doing the missions in the Venture, Prospect or Endurance and just reject the bigger ore related missions as it seems safer and less risk in the mining frigates. Even if i gotta make say 2 trips with the Endurance etc. Just wanting to diversify the ways I do PVE content so mining missions in null sec will be an experience.

Should be quite interesting indeed! I’d love to know the following:

In high sec, rats do not spawn at all in “Gas Injections” and “Cheap Chills”. Does that hold for null? “Like Drones to a Cloud” has drone rats in high sec, up to cruiser level even in 0.9. What rats spawn in this mission in null?

Like you, I favor the frigates exclusively for my L4 mining missions. Yes, two trips are needed in an Endurance for ice and “Not Gneiss”, but in high sec I have a tractor beam fitted to shorten the travel. I do recommend you decline/avoid the huge ore missions. I look forward to your reports!

What do you all think about the upcoming mining changes in the catalyst update?

Unfortunately only the mining laser get buffed, not the mining drones. So the problem to transport the ore in the 44.8 / 45 k missions stays the same, but now sacrificing a mining laser upgrade will not hurt so much anymore.

Will the new mining destroyer Pioneer be a better gas huffer than the venture?

Mining crystals still makes no sense for mining mission ore? I do not understand the suggested fittings above: without crystals the strip miner I yields more ore/s as the modulated strip miner II. Why are you using the tech II version?

Thank you!

Lots of big changes coming with the Catalyst expansion, to be sure. As to how it will affect Level 4 mining missions - here is what I think:

@Lares_Hane as to whether the Pioneer is a better gas huffer - it huffs at the exact same rate as the Venture. However, it has a bigger gas (mining) hold, better offense, and somewhat better fitting options. Where I can see a great use case is for Like Drones to a Cloud, the level 4 gas huffing mission. At present the mission is rather annoying in a Venture due to the low DPS of two drones. However, Pioneer will chew up this mission no problem. Where Pioneer will really shine is Level 1 and especially Level 2 mining missions. Currently, the best mission for power leveling standings with mining corps is “Unknown Events”. This mission bulks out at 6000m3, so a Venture requires two trips. Pioneer will be able to complete any Level 2 mining mission in a single trip. it can even easily do some Level 3 mining missions (again, Unknown Events is better than any L3). Of course, the above statement applies mainly to Alphas. CCP also stated that LP and ISK rewards for Level 1 and Level 2 mining missions are being raised by 50% (!).

Overall, it’s some nice QoL changes for mining and mining missions. Really looking forward to the new destroyers. My fleet composition will be changing for L4 mining missions. I’ll be sticking with one Endurance with ice/ore gear for the two ice missions and “Not Gneiss at All”, and I’ll be setting up a Pioneer to handle “Gas Injections” and “Like Drones to a Cloud”.

As always @Lares_Hane you should be declining the 45k missions. They are extremely poor on ISK/hr versus all the other L4 mining missions. And mining mutaplasmids are coming, which could closet buff your mining drones with a little dice rolling.

So, you don´t think the new mining crits will have much effect on this 45 k ore missions?

It’ll depend heavily on your skills, ship, equipment, and boosts (if any) - but it just won’t compete with the smaller volume missions. Assuming I roll gas, ice, or “Not Gneiss” I can finish up to three missions while you grind away at your one 45k mission.
