Literally the Stupidest Feature in Eve Online šŸ’¢

90% (or more) of the EvE problems I’ve had ingame or out have been operator error, just something I hadn’t figured out yet.

I’ve never had a problem logging into ccp site. Only had to email authenticate the first time when using a new machine. Perhaps your privacy settings are set to reject cookies? Or maybe as mentioned it’s your browser?

This whole fallacy of ā€œif a security measure doesn’t make something impossible it’s therefore uselessā€ is dumb as hell. That’s like saying that wearing seatbelts is just meaningless because it doesn’t prevent ALL deaths when in an accident.

Being able to log in to your account management means that apart from being able to change your information they can also log in to your game account and steal your stuff. So if it makes sense to require the login code for the game client it thus also makes sense to require it when logging in to your account management. This is not rocket science.

Without this system hackers only need ONE login and pw combination to steal your stuff, with it they need TWO as they also need to have your email login and pw. That in and of itself already creates an extra hurdle making it far less likely (but not impossible, obviously) for your stuff to be stolen.

Also, people tend to be more careful about their email login credentials than the ones they use for their games. So not only is it a secondary requirement, making it more difficult, but (generally) also a more secure one as well. Any cretin can understand this and come to this same basic logical conclusion.

I’ve literally had zero issues faced by the OP, with and without an authenticator.

That being said, it’s better for it to be used than not.

Not if you’re using an authenticator app, like Googles

It really isn’t.

Sounds like ā€˜the service’ isn’t very good at authenticating it’s users, which is a shame, but doesn’t automatically infer that all services using (or requiring) an authenticator are bad.

Cypr3ss.

Or more likely they forgot to use the sync authenticator feature and the clock had slipped enough. As clocks do.

Literally the stupidest thread ever posted on the official forums in sixteen years of EVE Online.

2FA keeps your accounts protected from account hackers and RMT rings. Use it.
