I noticed for a while that some small drones will scan my ship as soon I entered the station.
I’m curious about those, can someone tell me more about this little dudes? What they are seeking, why they scan my ship each time?

They are scanning for and removing any space-oliphaunts that may be hidden on your ship’s exterior.
The drones must be doing a good job, I’ve never seen any!
And now the boring explanation: They are scanning your ship for the cinematic reveal clip.
immersion wise - I like to think of them as maintenance drones, scanning your ship for any damage after you dock. Kind of like the attendants that used to run around checking your tire pressure and cleaning your windshield etc when you gassed up your car.
They are looking for your personal data so they can get maximum value for the ads they inevitably will display in stations.
But also their purpose is to increase the loading time when you dock. The fancier the station interior the longer it takes to load.
Am i doing it right?
Customs and tax inspectors. Making sure you pay the proper amount. Do you have anything to declare?
Kidding aside, it’s just a little visual element CCP added recently to provide some extra graphical distraction when docked. As Dyver said, I think they showed up around the same time as the new ship “first time cinematic” and “Show Info” screens appeared. CCP loves them some bells and whistles.
Lore-wise, one could assume that any ship entering a facility would be scanned for various reasons. Repairs, legal purposes, ship and pilot ID, threat assessment, etc.

Meet the new inspector BOBs! These friendly Basic Operational Bots scan and inspect your ship to ensure all is well.
@CCP_Zelus Hey, I know this one!
These are actually referred to as BOBs (Basic Operational Bots). There are a few variations, like a few are flying around in citadels called "Technical BOBs"; the ones who inspect your ship with the little lights are "Inspector BOBs".
Personally, I call the BOBs who set up corruption effects around gates and add the extra billboard material Billboard BOBs or Billy BOBs. BOBs are the real names that you'll see mentioned in patch notes, etc.
They’re the equivalent of “squeegee kids”. Toss some ISK outside the airlock and they’ll clean the blood off your view port.
That’s so cool! Thank you everyone for the informations and answers!
Not to be confused with paying homage to Bob, the all-seeing deity in EVE.
