Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

free intel… what you smokin willis?

You cheated!

For Elite players as CCP calls them, I am sure they will love the blackout, for the majority of the players in Null this is going to be a pain to the point of, will they just log off until its over. If CCP decide to keep it in place then it will screw up mining, industry and ratting in Null. The big corps will see an effect in a drop in taxes and prices in Jita will start to rise. I played in WH space for 3 years so I can adapt, If you are new to Null then your learning curve just got even harder.

So I think this a horrible idea, not because I hate pvp or anything. I’m sure the 2-3 weeks that follow said blackout will be a glorious “The Purge” plus 100. But afterwards…

For example, I was flying a Rattle with the estimate value of 3.5 Bil, fully faction and dead spaced out. My pod had a full set of high grade crystal implants and high end missile implants. Prior to the news of the blackout, all the pvp guys who roamed my area had the opportunity to catch and kill me (if they had enough firepower) and get that nice shiney killmail. but now... She is parked... Now if I'm ratting, I'm gonna do it the same way I used to run sites In J-space, with the cheapest fit I can that gets the job done. T1/Meta everything....

And that is very boring.
So now, when me and my corpies go on a roam, no more shiny kills for the same reason nobody will be able to kill my Rattler…
And then to top it off… I didn’t like living in J-space. That’s why I moved to null, now it’s being forced on me… And if I’m not having fun… Well… Why would I pay a subscription every 3 months to NOT have fun? I won’t.

I call bull

Here’s a thought, perhaps this is a cunning plan fromm CCP:

Remove local from Null
See who doesn’t log in during that time
Check behaviour on those accounts for botting, the target list having been generated for free.

Well, I have been playing for six months. Five of that in Null. Worked hard, and now have three accounts going, each for its own purpose. Now that I have all that time invested, and earned my way to serious equipment, I have to decide some things. Do I sell it all off, suspend my accounts? Do I just quit and move on to some other game? Or do I risk my investments and see how it goes…

I am leaning towards a sell off, but may just quit.

Look at what you have, investigate other areas and see if there is gameplay there that could be interesting. It is possible to do hisec indy to a reasonable level for example.

Another possibility is doing missions for LP to get faction gear, because if the nullsec blocks don’t sell moon goo to hisec that will be an interesting area to develop in. To be a real Eve player if the going gets hard or stupid, or is nerfed then adapt. I for one expect that if they did get this embargo to work then LP derived faction stuff will be great.

If CCP see disruption to their cash flow, they may do something.

If.

The only thing being forced is delayed chat mode. Which is something that CCP said on more than one occasion should have been in from the start. This update does not make null sec like J-space! Over in wormhole land you need to scan the chain down everyday just to have it deleted when someone rolls the connection. You can’t jump clone back into your home if podded out for whatever reason. If your being evicted and they have good hole control just say goodbye to all your assets in that system if you can’t get back in. #RIP_Hydra

Lets be real. People will still fly blinged fit ratting ships for those “Dank” (not really) tics even if there is no local.
After the Plex vault update people were Reeeeeing about how the days of people hauling Plex in there cargo hold are gone. Caldari Shuttle | ISK Transporter | Killmail | zKillboard It still happens, wtf how?!

Everyone just needs to take a chill pill and enjoy this better version of eve that bob has bestowed upon us! Also, you guys are most likely getting asset safety removed. :dealwithitparrot::dealwithitparrot::dealwithitparrot::dealwithitparrot:

over 4100 posts before CSM bless us with a comment? Bad call thinking things have mellowed enough not to get blasted.

I have to ask, what’s your opinion on this and what justifications do you think are behind this bold move. (let’s face it, love it or hate it this is a bold move from CCP)

I like to view CSM as informed players who try to look at the bigger picture and look to the future and I’m honestly curious on your thoughts.

It is not the 1st post by CSM in this thread: there are some more from Suitonia and Steve.

I read through 3000 posts and missed them?
Well damn… don’t I feel like a complete ass now as opposed to just slightly.

Why? If this “fix” is to help remove botting, then it’s a matter of time before most move to lowsec. And what have highsec got to worry about? No local for anyone I say

This fix is not to remove botting, it was done to shake the game up more than anything else and they want to get rid of excess and bots are just part of that.

As for moving to lowsec it is not as suitable for botting and will be doubly less suitable with people going there more after this change to nullsec. What enables botting is deep 0.0 behind layers of active PvP alliances. It is basically a lot more difficult to bot in lowsec.

In hisec there are people botting doing delivery missions, but they soon get reported. In fact with local we actually see them come in en masse and start to investigate them. So in that example it would actually get in the way of dealing with bots.

You need to think a bit more on this suggestion.

Hi, new CSM! Were you asked about your opinion by CCP?

This seems tailor made for CSM involvement. Did CCP run this by the Council first? Does the Council feel that there is a legitimate goal for this? I understand that you’re under NDA’s. But surely this deserves some kind of guidance/pronouncement from the Council.
