I agree and disagree to an extent, firstly I agree because there are players within eve who enjoy the industrial aspect of the game and only have limited accounts to do this role. Making these players easy targets to (not enough content pvp whiners) should not ruin ones gameplay for discriminatory reasons. However this is where I disagree to an extent, since the alpha/omega changes and the unrestricted accounts players have these days has become a problem fundamentally with EVE. EVE once had a problem with 3rd party program multi-boxers, it now has a major problem with players having excessive accounts. These wealthy (isk) players who are dominating the game to an unfair advantage and it has a detrimental effect on new or returning players with limited accounts who just want to enjoy the game with more eve creating content. CCP try to nerf alpha accounts more and more restricting game access and potential plexing. Personally I believe CCP should limit active accounts and having even 5-10 accounts is excessive nevermind 80+ accounts certain youtubers and CSM members have. I feel and some may strongly disagree here but this playstyle is ruining the game for new or returning players. If you should want a reason to boycott subscribing I think there are more important reasons around.

as second yes i agree with you that theres a wildgrowth of unrestricted acounts but this topic is not about alpha acounts

that ppl with alpha acounts can rat in nulsec is the whole reason why i specificly say miners not ratters

Well you asked for it.

While I don’t necessarily support players having massive amounts of alt accounts, it is within the rules of Eve (full disclosure, I usually run two accounts). So your claims that it is ‘unfair’, I dont agree with either.

Every player can have alts if they wish = level playing field.

If CCP said that players over a year old can have as many alt accounts as they want, but new players can only have one account… That would be unfair.

CCP wants as many accounts subbed as possible because they are a business and businesses maximize profits. Imagine going to the grocery store and they tell you everyone can only have 5 bananas because if someone had 10 bananas that would be unfair, even though they have a banana machine that makes bananas out of thin air that they sell for $15-$20 each.

Agreed and Im sure ccp could maximise profits if they restricted this somehow. Sure they would probably reduce profits from the current player-base because they want to continue to exploit this but for a newplayer starting EVE and besides having the large learning curve that comes with it in the first place they now realise they have to set up multiple accounts over and over to compete with the already existing playerbase. I dont think gamers come to EVE and stay for that purpose. You can still experience every aspect of the game with 5 active accounts too.

Every industry has to adapt and I said they might reduce profits from the current playerbase because they are all old players because they are unable to retain fresh players.

But you have not been able to provide any kind of suggestion as to where they pick up the lost revenue from the account reduction you recommend.

They would in essence be adapting to a problem they created by cutting their profits for no good business reason.

I for one would be willing to resub and im sure new players would if they knew they didnt have to make loads of accounts to compete. Why cant I do it from a lower number of accounts?

What do you mean when you say “compete”?

I may have a few accounts, but I dont krab, and I dont need them to Market, so what is it you think you need to compete with?

I don’t feel Im in need to compete with anyone, and when Im short on mad money, I only run 1 paid account.

If you cant define in what why you feel there’s a lack of competition (and having an advantage in time or effort doesnt really cut it when you can buy Isk effectively by using PLEX and SP by using injectors), then you are basically saying to people who have a lot of characters they may like and have played the game to simply craft into who they want, “Sorry but these guys, they’ll all need deleted, sorry”.

Im again unsure how this helps new players? All this is about how control of the whole game and its direction is basically controlled by the a % of the player-base who have amassed huge fortunes and lets not try and protect the game with attracting more new players but instead keep that playerbase happy.

But we already talked about how multiple account holders have a negligible effect on new players. You haven’t said one thing that is specific to new players, as even if we take your market playing into account, its not on the items they use, and its not something they are immediately able to do anyway (for a start no tutorial).

haha really is it? So if they made changes in a similar way to what I am suggesting you wouldnt say the hell with this game? Because all your replies are not open about how to improve the faults with excess account usage but instead trying to persuade me that its OK on new players and I dont know what im talking about.

We can also argue what is a negligible effect and what isnt all day and I have repeatedly given examples of how it would effect new players too. So what I think a youtuber should do then is make a series of how excessive multiple accounts actually effects a new player experience. Would that satisfy you disbelief?

1. No, Ive invested too much time and enjoy playing with my friends that if they reset I still would play. But I haven’t heard a reason for it yet that holds water.

2. Well that would be because you cannot define what excessive is, and when you try, you pick an arbitrary number for a limit that you haven’t given a reasoning for. Why is five accounts ok and 6 isnt?

3. No, you are trying to persude anyone reading that its bad for new players, Im asking why this is your view, and you cannot give me a solid reason. Like I said before, any reasoning you’ve made is not specifically about new players. A new player should not be able to compete with a 5 year in a Paladin doing missions, do you think he should be able to?

4. I have not said such a thing, though you have accused me of both trolling and indirectly of botting, so lets not go with the personal statements, ok?

Yes though taking drugs to prove there’s a drug problem seems excessive when you could provide an example in game of something that they do that effects new players.

Though I thought we’d agreed earlier that new players wasn’t the issue but that you felt you couldn’t compete as a returning player?

Which reminds me, why was this ok pre 2012 and its not ok now?
