Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Thanks for that tid-bit of info. That was all I needed to know. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes you did. I want to change the high-sec too, so the new players learn how it feels like to live in null-sec from the day Zero and if they don’t like it they can always go and play something else. Because as some one stated here “people don’t need local to socialize …” they can socialize in Reddit etc and find corps there too where to join anyway … just a thought to make EvE more hardcore as many players here like it to be.

Yes that is a good idea and then I could run EVE in my Windows 95 and intel 80486

Fair enough, they would have their NPC corp channel and the newbie help channels as well.
Though it might be a bit too lonely if those channels are also set to opt-in. New players should know there are others playing the game before they learn how to look for them using other methods.

FIRST ONE TO THE FINISH LINE GETS A KILLMAIL!!

“EVE needs more risk, take more risks” say the leet players who (just pretend?) are among the ones who drop 3-20 on single ventures, single Vexors, VNIs Myrms etc. Exactly what kind of increased risk did you say you wanted and got??? Who’s risk? You’re actually just applauding that all ‘slightly less’ PvP fit ships now are blindfolded as you approach them. Gee wiz… risk takers indeed. Ok, we’ll meet you. Just dont pretend EVE gets more newplayers as you cheer every new change that make kills so easy that EVE finally buckles evonomically under your “immersive playstyle” of shooting fish in a barrel all day 9 to 1 , 9 T3Ds to 1 vexor that is. Hoooray CCP, all of eve begged for this for years - or?

You said it !:dancer::darkbeerparrot::darkbeerparrot::darkbeerparrot::darkbeerparrot::dancer:

Why are you wandering around in a dangerous area alone?
Bring friends, 9-1 could be 9-9 and much more fun for everyone.

We did - our mining fleets in Horde started fighting back - then “you” stopped coming som much XD    well, now they bring whole invasion style fleets with cyno backups and Dred bombs to attack a Horde mining fleet
funny that…

Sounds like a fun time.
You didn’t drop them back?

Course we did. And ye, I loved the fleets - I just cant be there all the time - I like playing alone as well - I just dont enjoy being blindfolded when I play.

Working as intended I’d say.

Well, I had to add some qualifiers as you see…

shows that nothing in null changed
still the same null
blackout have nothing to do with it.

Well - judging by more than just my reactions, things have changed - and not for the better as far as I can see. eternal swaths of Cloaky lokis seem almost bearable now - by comparison only…

It is never like that if you bring 9 the other team will 30 more and so on … null-sec pvp is mainly “blob there” vs “blob here” and if you get 1:1 pvp that is a mistake from the other pilot afk or was not in the comns or in the fleet or did not follow intel. This opt-in local just brings cloaky camping on the game nothing more elite pvp style. Well ofc small gang roaming with fast ships is a thing but they just target the miners etc players that cant defend them selves etc. Same as in the lowesec gate camps where they just wait for the “pray” to jump into the system and its almost like the highsec ganking when you got the small group of pilots killing freighters etc. Same goes for “elite” pvp small gangs that hunt in the null-sec … it is just now a bit more difficult to report them on the intel so they might get some “eazy” kills because of that.

Lol, dirty edits!
0.0 isn’t supposed to be a relaxing PvE experience, jump-clone to high-sec for that; or accept that things have changed and adopt tactics to be more aware of your surrounding space.

Meh, just watch, CCP is going to turn the lights back on.

Edit; forgot to add the “Meh”

extended downtime tomorrow therefore more than likely
Over all here is how i really feel about it

it is a video game…

I’m not a huge fan of blob vs blob+1 but it is what has brought historical and server breaking battles to Eve and it will continue to do so.

Small roaming gangs now have the potential to catch those that are inattentive rather than completely AFK.
You can move a fleet into position without the target knowing well in advance.

Intel channels are a thing and paying attention to them is wise. Much more engaging than glancing at the local channel to see if you need to dock up. (Or for those unscrupulous people: to set a script to monitor a pixel changing colour).

Opt-in local has added to the game, not taken away from it. Players are still adapting to the change. Some will need to rethink their playstyle, some will come up with new playstyles.
