Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

haha ! excellent !

Have to agree!! Sometimes you can go days and not see anyone in wormholes

@CCP_Falcon I’m sure you’re digging through spam for this but at the small hopes that you read my post I’ll make the effort. While i support this comms black out I sort of think you should go the delayed local chat way and not the complete wormhole space thing.
here are some reasons:
a) new players might find it hard to roam around and D-scan to hunt for targets, s a delayed timer will give them a chance by making them invisible for a while once first entering a new local, they’ll have the advantage of seeing potential targets in local first and being able to decide if its worth them sticking around in that local. No one looking for pvp wants to hop through system after system and not be able to shoot anything.
b) a delayed local could have a cool mechanic added that if your fleet is in that local for less than ~20 sec you do’t EVER show up in that local. This could add a cool fleet mechanic where you have “ghost” fleets and make 3rd partying more enjoyable
c) As a cloaky camper alt I enjoy my enemies knowing im in local. It works as a double edged sword, they know i’m hunting them and know to move to the next system to PVE and I know when my camping is working. This has been an interesting mechanic to the game for a while and I’d hate to see it go.

This all being said, I look forward to seeing how these changes effect the game. This is some cool stir-up you guys are doing. Thank you!

the economy will prosper in other places. This will be great for ALL the people in game who aren’t in an 18,000 player coalition.

I’m on the side of ‘why wasn’t this really tested first’? I don’t live in Null, but I understand the whole ‘Decade of EVE and the management decides to screw up the gameplay for the sake of bad decision-making’ frustration.

Why not introduce new Null regions and test this WH-chat style out on them?

There’s no argument to be made that the current state of nullsec is awful, and in need of changes. Too many fat fish and not enough ways to hunt them down. But this soloution will tilt the scale of balance to absolute chaos. It’s like talking off a finger to get rid of a splinter. There are better ways to get people off the belts and out shooting each other.

no need to test in WH, it has worked for a long time. Let’s see what the data shows after 30 days of having this broken mechanic fixed.

Losing subs anyway so might as well see the impact.

Well there is not much to lose null is almost as abandoned as WH and thus far safer than high sec, so it will affect a minority of players, hence why the experiment with them.

CCP would not dream to try something like this with high sec.

Its risk vs reward, with the all the nerfs and now with the Invasion content, drifters ■■■■■■■ up everything in null, and now no local, it just is not worth trying to stay. CCP is actively trying to stop players from making ISK to sell PLEX.

Tomorrow "goons"tears in jita with 2000 destros for killing the poor hi-sec players…revenge!

I’m sorry, I did not mean to offend.
I just disagree. And I insist that historically, Delve, like all nullsec, is the basis of the economy seen in Jita / HS.

Well there you have WH space where this feature was implemented since the beginning, and it’s the most devoid and deserted part of eve. I don’t want to say 0.0 will go this way, in fact, I believe everything will stay the same more or less, but what it shows is that the way of playing in a no local environment is not overly popular among the eve players.

So after quite some time (people have some stocks of materials and hulls) we might see a return of T2 ships and even BS being rare? Sounds good to me.

Time to change the economic impact of Delve then, this may do that and shift some of that selling power to HS/LS entities

Artificially inflated PLEX prices is not enough ?

Because it isn’t a new mechanic, it’s intended to stop the continuation of the toxic situation the null blocks are running.

They’re making too much isk from a position of nearly total safety. It’s bad for the economy, it’s bad for profits, it’s bad for the game, and it’s contributijg to a stagnation that’s destroying retention.

It’s a Hail Mary… but it’s a pretty good one that could turn null into the war zone it was always promised to be.

I’m also very worried about losing so many null subscribers. I really get the feeling that CCP’s leadership is very disconnected from the playerbase. The CSM could NOT have been the group to suggest this unless they somehow got into a groupthink of ‘It’s time for EVE to shut down’ and pushed this as a cloaked way to that goal.

New regions should have been placed in the game with this WH chat feature instead of imposing it on currently played areas. If Null players wanted to be in a wormhole, they would have moved there.

Dumbest Idea yet, in my opinion. Doing this will drive out the players who started this game. For all the guys that are liking this change, here’s a question for you. What type of toon do you have in eve. PVP pirate type or an Industrial toon, Lets hear what and how you play. Maybe this will show CCP you cant handcuff one large portion of the game players to make it easy hunting for the others. And was this a CCP idea or perhaps their new owners.

Nice best thing CCP could do.
