Why not add a button like scan - only it is called - SCAN for LOCAL ship signatures
When a player presses this his ship adds data to local.
As more and more players in the same system do this - local gets more and more accurate.
HEll-Even tie it to them actually hitting the DSCAN button
I haven’t played actively in like a year. I’m just here to bask in the glorious nullbear tears. I remember asking for this in 2008. Glad to see CCP finally had the balls to do it.

Sounds like it might be too risky to yolo mine in your rorq in null now. Kind of like how it should’ve always been.
Sorry you can’t just fall asleep mining now in an area that’s supposed to be free pvp. Pay attention to your dscan or get a fleet to defend you.

combat recons, they don’t show on dscan they might be the next meta
I’m sure new scripts for their bots will be available using D-scan…
You will see how wrong you are after some time. Small gangs are not coming back. NS alliances will just tighten defences. You won’t have pvp target opportunities because of this change. NS have numbers to nullifiy it.

Well I have actually, but it isn’t fool proof
just for the record, with the advances in AI, bots can play far better than any player. DOTA pro players learned that the hard way.
So if you think bots are going away
think again.
Even if they do, it won’t save their bot from cloaked attackers.

Ok-so if you show up in local this is due to your beacon your ship uses when scanning.
If you turn off the beacon you only get data you can gather passively.
No exact ship type unless the other ship has its beacon on ,
No docking for you at friendly stations as your beacon is not on and no one knows who you are…etc
