So i’m Looking for a level 4 autocannon build not even sure what ship to start with or what guns i’ve waded thru hundreds f pages of build some bad some worse and some that are neither there nor there. So looking for some input from you guys as to which ship and which auto cannons or large projectile guns i should use
Vargur T2 800mm autocannon is s great starting point.
Assuming you are asking as a relatively new player just getting into Level 4 Mission Running (so no Marauders because of the skill training demands).
Have a look at using a Shield fitted Tempest - you can put a Damage Control, three gyrostabs in the low slots, and possibly some tracking enhancers. Nice DPS, good tank.
The ideal is the 1000 battleship - where the DPS + repair/boost = 1000.
For example, 650 DPS, 350 EHP/S tank.
You’ll struggle, unless you are a new player, to get to that, but it gives you a feel for the target and the split.
im not a new player but i am a returner with 60+ million sp so what weapons would be on that build?
I’d probably go with 800mm Repeating Cannon II.
Tracking issues against small stuff can be fixed with the aid of Tracking Enhancers and Light Drones.
Alternatively, if you have the skills for it there are some very respectable Maelstrom fits with 800mm AC II or if you can afford it a Machariel would work well in this space also.
EVE Workbench Maelstrom AC800MM II
Weidrly, you could even make this work with a Praxis if you wanted. Back when I was doing L4s though I preferred ships that could perma-shield tank as that was where my skills were concentrated and I hated having to use cap boosters.
The issue I had with AC was that on some missions when the rats love to stay at 60km +, it takes a LOOOOONG time with AC to kill them. In a Maelstrom for example, all your high-slots are used up so you don’t get to put links in to extend drone range.
Machariel with MWD / Vargur with MJD.
800er ACs work very well with both ships.
