A plan! Your route will be Industry then Trading, I think.
As I said, I can’t really help you because I’m more used to attacking ships than building them. I’m surprised that no one has yet responded to your request. It is possible that you might have more luck in 2 other sub-forums; New Player Q&A and Skills.
You’re not allowed to post the same thread across multiple sub-forums though. If no-one comes back to you here, look at the those two sub-forums and try to decide which of them is likely to be most successful.

Or he can become a ganker and/or suspect baiter, kill loot pinatas, grab the juicy loot, sell the stuff, then spend part of the proceeds on industry and whatever else he likes.

But if you want to give it a shot and find out, you should hook up with one of the nullsec newbie alliances. They have people to teach industry, and they have people to teach pvp to give you a break from venture mining.
No, it’s just a lot of work.
But: It can be fun! I was very proud when I finished my first Megathron, built with ores I’ve mined myself. And then they changed the mechanics and you need additional parts and different origins of the ore, so building a Battleship became even harder.
So start with a Shuttle, then a Frigate, later a Cruiser and so on - and you’ll find out if you like the job. These are no problem for an Alpha char.
I mine casually on all my alphas. I don’t know exactly how many hours I spend, because sometimes I fall asleep, my sister drags me off to go shopping, or I am reading Facebook while the game is AFK mining in the background. I would estimate somewhere between 4 to 8 hours per day but I am an old retired woman who has limited mobility. With all that said, I make about 150 to 300 million ISK per day, even more, if I have friends online with me.
I mine kernite and gas from low security space. I don’t do wormholes as they are full of super NPC’s and players drop in from null security to blow you up. Back in November of 2023 I planted a small freeport inside a wormhole, it was blown up on Jan 2, 2024. I now own an astrahus since Februrary 2024, it is still with us. These cost billions to buy and millions to feed fuel cubes. But everything I have done is alpha grind only.
It doesn’t happen overnight. You start out with simple mining and selling of what you mine, blowing up NPCs and sellng what you salvage. A few months and 1 million ISK looks like small change. If you stay alpha as I have, you are limited, but that is ok with me. Building ships is not going to make you ISK rich, but you can have fun doing it. I think this video explains it well.
