Mobile Depots - Help Me Understand

You got some good advice. If you can’t do those things or simply ignore it then that’s your problem.

He puts them back, and with religious devotion while they’re reinforced. If I do blow them up, then he puts more down. It’s due to the crappy mechanic of being able to pick them up while reinforced. Can you ask CCP to disallow that flag? (The technician at CCP who answered my ticket recommended I ask a CSM to forward).

Well, we cannot remove timers, it would affect Brisc’s gameplay.

I would prefer if CCP fixed this weird mechanic. If that one element was fixed, and depots could not be picked up while reinforced, I’d have zero issue because I could take care of the problem myself consistently.

I can ask, but honestly, you’re suggesting that we remove gameplay because you personally don’t like it. Do you think that’s a good idea?

No, if I was the only person who had this issue then I neither think it’s a good idea, nor would I have posted here. I’d have taken Gunnery Sergeant Hartman’s advice from earlier in the thread.

I’ve checked the forums and the issue is voiced by many players over the years. The depots in their current form are prohibitive to most counter play. That’s all I’m asking. Treat depots like POCOs or Citadels, and make it so they can’t be picked up while reinforced. That’s all.

If that change is made, then it truly can be up to the players to deal with mobile depot spam throughout New Eden.

Any downsides to doing this?

Oh HighSec you so Silly

Slightly off topic, well tbh a lot off topic; did you ever whelp that carrier we gave you as queen of LAGL?

As adverse outcomes go, I see the following:

  • Players who rely on the mechanic to maintain the longevity of the depots will be equally disappointed as those looking to make this change presently

  • Fewer players may be inclined to use the mobile depots due the changes in mechanics, resulting in lower market prices, some immediate profitability losses for those who have built them, and some degree of asset obsolescence

  • A greater reliance on immediate hauling may replace the mobile depot in some situations, resulting potentially in greater losses of hauling ships as pirates will be more engaged in observing some operations than when depots alone are used

Not many players in hs use these for “normal” uses and even if then they tend to put them in safespots so they don’t really show up unless people actively start looking for them. They’re mostly used in advertising or 3D space “art” stuff where they’re spammed and are annoying.

As long as the owner gets a message their Depot is reinforced with a timer and they can still empty them in the mean time it’s not going to really hurt “legit” players too much, if at all. It’ll mostly affect the spammy annoying ones.

Like… turn it off in the overview?

I get that the OP is getting a fair amount of grief for suggesting a change, but in my opinion they aren’t wrong. Just having them not able to be picked up when they are re-enforced hardly seems like some huge ask. It removes absolutely no sandbox type element, and actually adds more gameplay. If you want to put up 30 depots advertising your Russian corp, you might lose them every two days. What’s the downside to that?

For example we are minoryty language corp.

Ccp corp tool is pure garbage no newbro is able to orient in.

So we use boxes on starter locatiom gates to recruit people in our language.

90℅ of our members got from the boxes.

So basicly assxxx like you making it realy dificult for minorities in this game to recruit since we have to spend time and reanchor every offten.

We dont spam those and we put them only to nebro gates still they are targeted and destroyed all the time.

Im understand its not your fault ccp corp recruitment is garbage. And dont let people filter nationality.

Im even understand that there are people who spam and clutter hell whit those.

But mostly its just recruitment tool for minorities you are killing so im hope you are proud big boy.

Im wery sory that minorities of people across the world are soooo anoing to you.

The post above is almost exactly as annoying to me as the mobile depot spam itself. Remarkable.

I accidentally read the thread title as “Mobile Despots” and thought “damn, did someone buy @Aiko_Danuja another attack helicopter?” Oops.

You must do a lot of yoga with that reach my boy.

I support the OP’s idea.

Let the mobile depots burn

i use them to get suspect if there isn’t any yellow loot

As Im an Alpha stuck in an Orca, I use mobile depots all the time but Ive never needed to reinforce one of my own. If I had to abandon one in space it wouldnt bother me overly if it was destroyed, I carry plenty of spare ones.

I just never got why writing MOONPIE was fine but ejecting a cloud of drones around a gate wasnt.

Talking of attack helicopters whats the salvager for on your Hecate, or was it a salvaging mission :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
